great informative video but in future if you want to make things slightly easier its best to put the R600 together before fitting.
@volkswizard

Would that be easier? It's really hard to get it under the coolant hose as it is, plus it's easier to screw it down when the base is mounted securely to the car.

@@volkswizard yeah if you lift the coolant hose slightly and slide the whole R600 in from left to right it is actually alot easier, done this many times on my old car and saves alot of time with screwing everything together too, the stock intake system comes off just as easy without having to take that apart as it is in 2 sections.

Got my calendar and love it. Great video - looks an easy but effective upgrade for a MK 8 GTI owner. Not sure if you are running super unleaded petrol in your car, Andrew. If not, have a look at Mannol Benzin Ester Additive to counter the effects of 10% ethanol and increase power.

Surely all the BHP the car can produce is stored within the perimeters of the ECU, without a tune up the air box is really a decorative piece. The ECU will only take in the Air Fuel Ratio mixture that it was programmed with from factor until it’s changed An air box won’t trick that surely
@volkswizard
@volkswizard 2 жыл бұрын
Modern ECUs are a lot more dynamic than that. They try and maintain the best fuel/air ratio (stoichiometric ratio) but the actual amount of air is constantly variable so if you can get more in, more fuel will be provided and you will get more performance. On a cold damp day the car is getting all the air it can get with or without R600, but on a hot day, the R600 will allow a greater density to be ingested and reduce the performance loss caused by high intake air temperatures leading to the timing being retarded as happened to me on track in July. Obviously a remap will demand more fuel and more air and that's when the R600 comes into its own but still nice to have without one.

That was true in the old days with carbs and then mechanical fuel injection. However, modern ECUs are powerful computers that will adapt within given parameters in their closed loop system, which includes the catalytic converter and knock sensors. If you add an uprated turbo, airbox and free-flow exhaust downpipe you will need a bespoke remap of the fuel, ignition and boost pressure curves to take full advantage of the new hardware, which will then be way beyond the factory parameters. A bespoke remap is when it all comes together and the magic happens!

What about the secondary airfilter. Do I need it with the R600 kit ?
@sergium3644
@sergium3644 2 жыл бұрын
Personally, R600 it’s a waist of money. Let me explain people. You can’t get hp increased from this especially on a turbocharged engine. That’s why is called turbocharged because it will induct air as much as needed. Instead you what you can get from R600 it’s increase pedal throttle and that’s only because the rpm will stay higher as you force air in am the air sensor plays his part. If you really want to do that you can cut the other side of your mk7 normal intake (the blocked part), take the winter grid off and change your normal filter with a Revo sport filter and there you are, you’ll have a “R600” at a cost of fraction.
