Racism in Construction Trades: My Experience & Reddit Reaction

Snow White midwest guy here and I experience racism all the time. I've worked around Hispanic crews Russian (big in Oregon) even Asian pacific they say derogatory things along with a icy sunning behavior that's purposeful counter productive purely on race. I have some incredibly thick skin so never had much of an issue but other crew members have left or called out for half a week at a time. It's full circle not just us White boys. I don't have to deal with this much now since there's not many subs on site but at one job we had 2 White maintenance guys 5 Hispanics that claimed to not speak English yet we can hear them talking in such along with 200 morning other departments. We were definitely on a island and we're expected to learn Spanish as well. I find in small outfits under 10 you kinda just have to play with the boys or be excluded. Not saying it's right but it is manageable.
