Two years? I'm pretty sure wanting to off someone is a considerably longer sentence. And I don't think "time off for good behavior" constitutes the sentence being cut in half. Not to mention; he probably wasn't remorseful. He was probably just desperate not to go to prison, since former cops don't exactly get the warmest welcome.
