I’m just starting to look into the Black Hack and it’s variations. While most of them only mildly interest me, this one sounds phenomenal!

Definitely picking this one up. I think my players would love this.

I got a new (cheap) mic a few videos back. Huge improvement over my phone's built-in mic.

I have a question. I'm not an experienced GM, but I want to run this solo for a friend. What I can't quite find is some info on things like NPC's. Do I basically make up a character sheet for them, or do I just give them a HD like the Monsters Table lists (by monster level). And then if said NPC is a Mutant, Psionic or Robot, do I give them the same modules or abilities as the players would choose from? One other thing I feel needs clarification is the Brain Jelly for example. The +1 int, -2 strength is given to the PC it attaches too, until said character is dropped? I just have no experience and am trying to wrap my head around how to partake in this.

For NPC's, treat them as monsters, give them a special ability or two (based on mutations, modules etc), basically keep it as simple as you can. In the case of the Brain Jelly, the bonus/penalty is only there as long as the jelly is attached. The thing with these kind of games is that you'll have to make a bunch of calls around how to handle certain things, as the ruleset can't possibly cover every situation ever. How does the player detach from the Brain Jelly? A strength check? Is it a test of willpower? By just shooting it in the... uhm, lack of face? Just go with gut feeling and try to GM as an impartial referee, and things will work out a-ok. And if something doesn't make sense to you or if you're unsure on how to handle a certain problem, don't be afraid to ask your player what they think. You're playing this together to have fun, after all. Good luck!

Sounds like Gamma World in a way...

Would this be suitable for use with Anomalous Subsurface Environment?

speaking of Mutations... have you checked out "the Metamorphica"? It's a book of random tables for generating mutations.

lordwalrus183 oh yeah I'm definitely planning on getting that one. There's a new revised Edition out, I hear.

You'd probably have to ask the author.

Great review! Do you know of any resource or have any input for creating a hack of someone like the black hack? I want to create a survival/horror version of the Black Hack. Thanks!

This makes my old Rifts game master heart sing!

Hey Sam, let us know how using Rad-Hack works for playing RIFTS! I loved that game but mechanically it's a nightmare. Message me back with any info that I can use or message me if you play the game on Roll20 or something online I could join.
@samchafin46234 жыл бұрын
@@NickCooper74 That would be great! All I need to do is get Rad-Hack... and some more players... and some time to play a regular Roll20 game. This may have to go into, "long term life goals". Nick, you may want to check out the RIFTS book for the Savage Worlds system. I haven't gotten to play it, but I read the book a couple of years ago now, and it looks like they did a pretty good job of converting the messy kitchen sink of a game that is RIFTS into something playable. I'll keep you in mind if I ever get an online game off the ground.

Humans appear to be very, very unappealing compared to the other classes. If I were the GM I'd let the Human player use the Deft or the Strong from Whitehack - they are much, much cooler than Humans here.
