How do you cope with all the dirt and waste water sitting in the grooves of your swisstrax flooring? Surely you must find washing in the garage creates problems with moisture, humidity and risk increasing the corrosion process due to moisture laden garage. Do you run a dehumidifier? These aren’t criticisms I’m interested as I’ve always been put off doing this inside my garage due to the concerns I mentioned. Amazing video by the way top class production
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
The key thing people need to understand is that water doesn't "sit" in the grooves. The water is free to flow once it falls through the grooves to the floor. Every garage floor in Western Canada will experience high levels of water, whether from environmental factors or from washing such as I do. Once that water hits the floor it flows towards the car door. Another environmental factor that people won't really understand is how dry the air is in our alpine climate. The only time I experience any humidity issues is if I am using a pressure washer in the warm garage and the weather outside is very cold. So, I avoid doing that. The only place I have any corrosion is on the base of the garage door rails. Every Spring, I sand the affected area and repaint it. It's a 10-minute fix. I understand these aren't criticisms, and that it isn't feasible for everyone, but everyone faces different conditions and factors. I hope this sheds light on how my garage functions. Where are you located?
@raining70494 жыл бұрын
RAD GARAGE thanks for taking the time to reply much appreciated. That makes complete sense with regards to the water running out under the tiles, I didn’t realise they had this built in which helps make my mind up they are right for me. I’m in Aberdeen, Scotland, I generally run a small dehumidifier over the cold winter months which maintains 50% RH ideal for vehicles. The summer months the garage barely drops below double fingers (Celsius) this autumn I plan on fitting a garage heater to maintain temps. I’ve subscribed love your videos. Thanks again

Your editing and camera work are the best I have seen in a YT detailer. Great work! Now I know you're from Canada and i am from the US. I cli led the link for the floor mat and rubber cleaner at carzilla. I have never seen that on Adam's website here in the states....is it a Canada only product? Did the strip wash degrade the paint coating at all that you have noticed? I know if is supposed go strip wax and sealant but I would think a coating is a bit more impervious?

I'm sure I got it through their website a year or so ago. Perhaps they discontinued. At any rate, it is awesome. The best lathering APC-type cleaner I have ever worked with and smells great too! I hope you can track some down.

Awesome video, very thorough! My only question was whether it’s OK to let the quickjack get that much soap/water on it? Just ordered one recently and also plan to use mostly for wheels off detailing, but was planning to try to avoid it getting wet as much as possible - assume it’s clearly not a huge deal though?
@RADGarage2 жыл бұрын
I always get my QuickJack wet and it’s not an issue. I do dry it off prior to storing it.

Hi new subscriber here from the uk. Love your content. May I ask do you Have a drainage system is your garage as I see you wash your vehicles inside your garage ? If you don't how do you get rid of the water etc . Thanks.
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
The pitch of the floor allows the water to freely flow out the door under the Swisstrax Ribtrax floor. The thin, dry alpine air also aids evaporation. It isn't an ideal system but it has worked for me for the past 10 years.

good video man. I know what those arch liner carpets are like. I feel they've soaked up half of Irelands water from me by this point. How does that Adams iron fallout remover smell? Cause i use auto finesse iron out. And lets say i was hungover one day, but work was work. I saw my previous nights antics in the garden from the smell alone. Is it pungent too or not as bad as others?
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
The wheel wells will test any man's patience! The Iron Remover by Adam's is way less nauseating than most, but it still has that familiar iron fighting smell. I wasn't loopy after though!

Your attention to detail is fantastic. Not only. The washing execution but also in your post production and final vide- product. I’m a fellow Audi owner now (Q5) and have a question for you about process. Do you polish or tape-off those black trim areas adjacent to the rear window and C Pillars? They’re black but I think they’re plastic? Or is this painted? I asking cause I don’t know whether I should polish or do something else to those areas
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
The A, B, C and D pillars are made out of soft plastic and they are highly prone to scratching. A few years ago, I had them protected with paint protection film so I don't have to worry any longer about them scuffing and detracting from the overall pristine condition of my SQ5. I highly recommend finding an installer in your area and having it done. Thanks for the fantastic feedback on my video work. It is something I take a lot of pride in.

RAD GARAGE. Yes. tell me about it...mine are swirl city. Would I need to polish them prior to the PPM?
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the good news is they polish up pretty nicely with little effort. Once they are perfect, I suggest getting them PPF'd.
@FrankieKennethL4 жыл бұрын
RAD GARAGE uffff...that’s great to hear...I was afraid I had a permanent issue...will definitely be following this advise. I live in a smaller city so options aren’t limited near by...May need to travel a bit but will be searching for quality PPF installers...what other areas do you recommend I get covered as well? My budget is limited so I’m looking for ‘essentials’. Gracias in advanced.
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
I will probably have every square inch of my next car protected with PPF. The quality and clarity of the film has really come a long way. If you are just staring out and trying to keep costs under control, I would recommend the hood for sure. I do the full hood but you can also do the leading edge of the hood only. I would find an installer and see what they can do for the budget you are working with. The pillars are a must if you ask me.

how does the drainage in your floor work?

I'm trying to get an actual drain added to the garage but it isn't easy. Currently, the slight pitch of the floor and evaporation are my only friends.

Hi Rad garage, I am following your videos for a while now and I am really enjoying it and take ur advice for when I detail my own car. With regard to dilutions for the IK 1.5 foam sprayer. What do u recommend/ use for adams wheel cleaner, tire rubber cleaner and ultra foam/car shampoo in combination with this foam sprayer? Thankyou!
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
Ok, so I have had very limited success with the "FOAMING" IK sprayer. I use the CONTINUOUS sprayer when applying Adam's Wheel & Tire Cleaner and it kind of looks like foam when it is dispensed. That's what you saw in this video. As for the dilution ratios, I don't really have an answer based on my lack of success and experience with the foaming IK. It just sits on my shelf and takes up space.

Nice video Rick. When does the e-learning start for you? I’m back as of today (Tuesday) I’m back at the coalface, online teaching my classes. It’s very interesting teaching the practical component online. Maybe I’ll start a YT like yours for high school students 😛😛🛷😎 I’m still envious of your garage and love seeing how you’ve laid it out.
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
We have been e-learning for weeks now. Both my wife and I deliver lessons from home and my son is learning from home. It's working out pretty good, but I sure miss the energy of the school. Good luck with your sessions and maybe a YT channel would be a good idea to show the practical component of the course? Go for it.

You have my dream garage. Sigh. Of course if I had that garage I’d also have to have my dream car, an Aston Martin Rapide S. Out of curiosity do you only detail high end vehicles??
@RADGarage4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chandra. Yes, it has become my dream garage and I love working in it. I detail vehicles of all types, but things do seem to be trending towards the more high end stuff. I think my approach appeals to people with a deep appreciation for automobiles so that could be why I am seeing such nice vehicles coming my way.
