I can’t get a new TFSI petrol SQ5 here in UK - TDI only. I checked out the Meccan GTS, but actually fell in love with the Cayenne. I ordered the Cayenne Platinum with some great options in Midnight Blue - estimated delivery in July.

Yeah. I should have done a debrief, but by the time I get to the end of the project and clean up the garage, I’m dead. It held up very well over the past year that coating wax will get it through another year!

The Devil's Blood coating has held up very well given the abuse it takes on a daily basis. The hardened dirt and salt came off very easily during the foam stage. I feel like it the crud didn't have a very strong bond with the paint, which is what the coating is for. So, it's all good and that car is now clean for a day or two! 😬

Hey Rick, that is a very known one, the one and only Dave's misuno red RS5 ! I love that car with the grey touches here and there. Very happy to see it back into your detailing dream garage ! That car is very similar to mine except rear wing and front grille since mine is not an RS. I was wondering if it was actually not too tedious washing cars during such harsh winter conditions. I know your garage is heated and you have the dehumidifier, though might be tough during -20°C days ! I do agree with Vermijl Car Detail, whose channel is stunning too by the way, some much needed love for this beautiful RS5 ! Very pleasant moment you shared with us Rick . Thanks for tuning in, Gregg. The only negative issue I find is the humidity that is generated when using the pressure washer. I have the dehumidifier, but it takes a while for it to being the levels down after the foam rinse. On those cold days where I can't just open the garage door to air it out, I usually upload some footage and play around on the computer while the garage gets back to a 50% humidity level.

@@RADGarage I like Detail Firm, Lift, and Gyeon Restart (this ain’t a dedicated foam but I like it a lot!) I like runny foams, since they seem to clean better. I’ve tried Adams Mega Foam and didn’t like it at all, didn’t seem to have any cleaning power. For heavy soiled vehicles, BH Touch-Less is a life saver. And of course, for rinseless ADG Fuzion, which is a foaming rinseless but can be used as a regular foam as well.

It keeps the humidity down, it is faster and all the hidden dirt was blasted free during the pressure foam wash so I just use what I call a “soft rinse” to rinse away the soap suds as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Quick question Rick... At 10:11, did you dilute the shampoo in the Adams spray bottle? I used to have a bottle of soap on hand for my door jambs years ago before I discovered ONR. I would like to revisit this method because it is definitely helpful cleaning areas such as the honey comb on this Audi.

Yes. That’s a bit of Mega Foam in there. It has good lubricity. It lathers so easily.

My “detailing theatre” is approximately 24 x 24. It’s a perfect size for me.

It can be tricky with the pressure washer. You just got to learn the angles so you don't spray down the walls. You could also use a garden hose like I do after the bucket wash.

Yes, but it is not tied into the sewer system. I have to manually pump it out once in a while, but most of the water than lands in the catch basin evaporates. I just have to rinse out the basin out when it gets some dirt and debris in it.

Thanks man. I have two cameras at this time. Sony a6100 and a6400. I just alternate camera between my various tripods and my motorized camera dolly. It's not terribly sophisticated, but I think this method allows me to capture the beauty and serenity of the detailing process.

That’s one beautiful car. Fireball products are definitely top notch. Since it’s been a year with the coating, wouldn’t the paint need to be Iron-X’d, decontaminated in some way?

I will do a decon wash on this one in the Spring, but there's no point given we are in the full swing of winter here. The paint felt very smooth to the touch, so I don't think there is actually much contamination going on any way.

Where does the water go from washing the car? Is there some sort of drain under the floor?

Yes. A trench drain directs water to a catch basin. I have a playlist of videos that document it.

I'm planning on turning my garage in my new home into a detail studio and start doing KZbin videos for Fireball Coatings. When it comes to making videos for say a paint correction and coating, how much time on average does it take to record, detail and edit videos?

Oh man, as the years have gone on, the time I invest in my videos has just gone nuts. It is hard to accurately calculate but on average I would say if I am completing a full correction and coating project, I am in the garage for 4 days for 8 eight hours a day (32 hours) and I will spend another 8-12 hours going through all the footage and putting the video together. I know there are people out there that can do it way quicker than that, but my shots take a while since I use moving sliders and dollies. If I was just using a static tripod, I could probably cut down the time in the garage by 50%. Honestly, it is a very difficult question to answer because each project takes on a life of its own, but I hope this gives you some idea. Best of luck with your endeavour!

Detailing is already a lot of work so then I got to focus in on the channel part. Thank you for the insight and appreciate it! The Audi looks great, awesome job! The Fireball satin tire dressing is my tire dressing of choice as well! Looks like the coating is still going strong, do you find that on the lower half of the panels that coatings start to fade a little earlier, due to the harsher conditions they are subject to? Does it just perhaps need a decontamination wash to refresh the coating?

I wish there were a way to truly know how the coating is standing up besides going by water behaviour. I highly suspect the road salt significantly reduces the amount of protection on the lower and rear portions of coated winter driven vehicles. The salt is just too harsh. A decon soap will pull some debris out of the clearcoat but it won’t repair any damage to the coating’s integrity. I just rely on regular applications of a quality topper. I suspect the best you’ll get out of a coating here is 2 years and then it’s time to reapply.

@@RADGarage The road salt is indeed terrible on paint and coatings. My plan, is to give the truck a topper in the spring, I've got a couple to choose from, The car has a top coat of Extreme Solutions topper, which seems to be doing quite well, and I've got a couple other SIO2 based toppers/sealants I'd like to try.

Too long. What would be a 2-3 hour wash took the better part of two days and countless hours obsessing over the video.
