Hell, she tried to use it as an excuse to not get written up for using the schools wifi to look up porn during class (while she was 16 btw) and to not fail every class because she never did anything. She was also the person that thought I was her friend, so she straight up told me all of this while I was secretly recording what the teacher was saying (in case my notes alone weren't making sense, the audio recordings did help a lot) and thus I ratted her out. I don't snitch out many people, but I definitely will if I don't like you. She had no idea who did it, but she was locked out of the schools wifi forever onwards, and was actually held to the same standards as the rest of us for until we graduated. (which btw my school forced everyone to graduate in order to keep their 0% fail rate for seniors, despite yelling in my face for four years that I'd never graduate due to my shitty grades)

When my brother died a family friend (artist) drew his school picture the day after and sent it to us, of her own will (without being asked) to both help herself grieve and to give us some art to remember him by. We ended up putting it as go photo for his funeral service. I understand people wanting to remember people who are dying or deceased, and I respect them for wanting it, but it angers me so much when they try to use it to get free or guilt the artist into a discount, it feels disrespectful to me. But it enrages and disgusts me when they blatantly lie about losing someone or having someone who’s seriously I’ll for that same reason, because to me it’s blatant disrespect to the people who are actually going through that hardship. @olivergabriel44016 жыл бұрын
well prices vary depending on the quality of the art, the experience of the artist, how well they are known and how fast they're (I asked other artists before starting my commissions and those were points they mentioned they took into account to price their art). It also depends on the type of art. But I've checked other's people prices and normally I see art prices that I consider fair, that range from like 20 to almost 90 dollars per piece. I personally have a commission price list including several characteristics that will increase the price of the commission (black and white, or colored, with backgrounds, no background, etc) but most other people I've seen work with headshots, full body, poses etc. instead. The truth is it varies a lot, but sometimes I've seen something really good for 3 to 5 dollars and I think that's a very low price. Sorry for the long answer

I remember way back when I was still on DA and I was part of a little community that largely consisted of downtrodden anime weebs. People with chronic illness, mental health issues, abusive families, or just general poverty to deal with. We used to buy commissions off each other whenever we could. I mean, in the grand scheme all we did was pass money around. It didn't make a difference to us financially. But we got nice art from each other, without having to mooch and beg for free shit, and if person A could afford a $40 commission but person B who did the commission could only afford to buy a $5 one back that month, then that was cool. Person A just did a $5 commission. I still have some physical art pieces from some of my mates and they make me SO. DAMN. HAPPY. to this day. Especially knowing that each one brightened their day when they wanted some pocket money or needed a proper dinner or had a parking ticket to pay. Basically: When you are going through shit you end up developing a f-ton of humility, humanity, perspective, and respect for fellow artists. If someone is using trauma to mooch then I don't believe a word of it. Almost nobody I have ever known is that shallow after going through hard times. And the few that ARE still that shallow? Well, trauma doesn't stop you being an asshole or justify it, and assholes don't get free stuff, so there's that. Keep up the good work Rad Pax. I am seriously turning 12 soon and I'm more mature than some of these kids, I'm an "artist" myself and sometimes take cheep commissions and I've had a 13-year-old trying to guilt trip me into giving them free art, first, I could tell they were lying because they were saying that both of their parents are dying, they were in deep depression and started cutting, and that they had no one left that loved them; yes, yes, I know, that could be true since this world can be quite depressing, and that the depression thing is very common around the 11+ ages, but I could just tell that they were not telling the truth, if you were depressed, I'd bet you wouldn't go around telling random strangers that you were cutting and that your parents are dying and that no one loves you, unless you were lying. Guilt tripping can be a big thing, if this happened just two years ago, when I was WAY more naive and rarely said "no" to anything, then yeah, I would've sent them all the support I cold and probably give them like a million free artworks and say, "I'm so sorry about your parents and everything you're struggling with! Just go knock yourself out with all of this free artwork even though your FREAKING LYING." not really the last part but you get where my annoyance is coming from ;-; Anyways, what this comment was originally going to be for was that I totally understand, all artists who opened commissions went through this at least once, unless they're like, the luckiest person on Earth. I have started thinking about actually charging people once I get through the requests I have already accepted. I'm in college and as you know, art takes time. I actually made some tea for my sore throat before I clicked on this video. It was a pretty neat coincidence. Also, this was really wholesome! The "thanks for spending time with me" at the end mixed with the music made the video seem really personal and involving. Thanks for making my day a bit better! :)

This happened, lots of people at school will make me draw them things and at first, when I’ve refuse they’d just call me names like “selfish,” and “bigheaded,” and insult my art and stuff, but after a while they started... threatening me? So I gave in and drew them what they wanted but that did almost nothing, because they started badgering me more and more and I, having no idea how to handle stuff like this, moved schools when the year ended.

Oh god, i love your art style. your mercy is gorgeous; Ive been binging your videos for a while now cause the background noise is nice and your stories are super entertaining. About people asking for free art thing, I totally get where you're coming from! Back when i first drawing in my sketch book and posting horrible quality drawing on my deviantart account, i thought starting with requests was a great idea to get a fanbase and THEN doing commission work like some of the youtubers i followed had suggests starting artists do. But Doing requests literally scared me off DA. Thankfully I made a couple friends, and as a socially akward 14yr old, meant the world to me. but some of the messages i got, still haunt me to this day. During The whole "request phase" of my DA profile, i'd get people asking for ocs or fanart from alot of different cartoons and anime. majority of those were no problem, i'd only ever turn down requests were if people asked for backgrounds, characters from really bloody/sexual series. Somd people were mad but left after i said no a couplr times Anyway, the one that really made me regret my decision was a "mask" oc. It was super easy request and i loved doing the character's pose, BUT the women asking for it, would also (this story gets pretty gross) send me mask fanfics of her other ocs which, started out okay. she'd asked for advise, which i felt really good about, since i liked writing, and i though we were becoming quick friends. But After a day or two, the 2 male charcters she was writing about, turned out to be siblings(referring to each other as "brother" instead of by name) and really into.....scat activities. To be fair, She did warn me that it was scat, but i wasn't familiar with the term and didnt bother googling it; i was still learning what "lemon" and "lime" meant, or that you could block other users. I just stopped responding to her after that. The reason it really haunted me was the fact, even though i stopped responding, she'd still send me chapters of her fanfic. I'd be horrified to check my messages and see the first lines of these chapters. Or her pleas to respond to her plus id have to click on the messages and back up just to get rid of the notification. from the beginning lines i could tell she and her fanfics, were getting worse and it terrified me. After a while my phone broke, and i never logged back into DA after that

Something kinda like that happened to me.. Im not a big artist or online or anything but i do commissions within my friendship group and ask them to tell others who may be interested in my art. So anyway, (btw i dont mean to come off as annoying in this comment sorry if thats the vibe :/) one of my friends wanted me to draw him as a wizard or something and i told him that im doing commissions. Obviously he didnt know what it was so i told him and we got into an argument. This lead to me saying "other people do it for like 100 pounds! Im just asking for three/five!" And he replied with: "Yeah, and their art is worth it!" Ex-f**king-scuse me? I may not like my art much but i think im actually a pretty decent artist And youre saying my art isnt worth FIVE POUNDS? He then tried to rub it off as "no i didnt mean it like that"

Once on Deviantart another artist for whatever reason insisted on making an icon for me for free, so I agreed. When it was done I gave them a big tip, and then they were so thankful and acted like I’m a saint or something when I’m just doing the right thing. When an artist goes out of their way for you they should always get something in return.

Just yesterday on DevArt some kid pops into my DMs, 'Hi, do you do requests?' And I'm like, sorry money is really tight so I can't do unpaid work right now. Tell me what you want and I can quote you? So they tell me a kind of complex fandom crossover pic that doesn't sound that fun to me, but like, money, I need it. But then end it with 'I can't pay, but is this something you want to do?' And I'm like.... I literally just told you I can't do free work. Don't come to me with your weird crossover fantasies that I don't even want to draw and ask for freebies. But ofc I was like "^_^;;; Really sorry I'm poor lol ^_^;;;;" cos you can't just laugh in the face of their sheer gall. Like really. I really need the work, guys. My country is collapsing in on itself roflmao.

People should never ask artist to give away anything they are not offering already for free. I do some art and I expect to be paid for it if someone wants something specific, I also paint on rocks to place those for the people to find for the joy of doing it....but you do not ask for free art!

See with the one about the dad with cancer, maybe requesting a portrait of him would make more sense so she could have something to keep around instead of her giving a portrait of herself to him, since she’ll be there seeing him at the hospital pft but I mean if you’re gonna lie at least know what you’re lying about and make sense with it. Comments this halfway through the video before hearing you basically say the same thing lol 😂

I hate when people do this, especially to commissioners that are commissioning for an emergency in there life. Like they need the money for rent, or for hospital bills, or for a funeral and they need the money for that because they can’t afford it. It’s just a terrible thing to do to anyone, but to that type of person is awful.

very relaxing to listen to and it does get the point across without you yelling and screaming your face off cause when people start losing their shit and yelling we become uninterested and click away no offence to the people who get this sort of thing where people lie to them on a regular basis cause i can totally understand where you're coming from and it's annoying as shit when people think they're above everyone else but the best thing you can do is blow off the steam and then once you have calmed down somewhat, make the video or post or whatever you were going to about the issue. It'll save your skins from the wrath of other people who get annoyed at your reaction since they'd probably think you're rude or something. Hope y'all are havin' a good day :)

I bet you "princess" is an oc also if you're gonna make a false story don't say what this kid said. What kind of cancer does he have? The bad kind 😂😂😂 wtf. Even so I wouldn't be using it as a way to ask for free art. It's kinda distasteful to know someone(in the event that they actually have a family member with a deadly illness) would use someone's deadly illness as a way to beg for free art.
