And really shes doing a better job than Suzanna Thompson did. If we have a Borg Queen that has to exist in Alex Kurtzman's mess and doesn't taint what Alice Krige did with the character, I'll take this new one. Shes doing a fine job with what she has been given.

The characters aren't nearly as insufferable, they are working together in Trek finest traditions, the plot while generic time travel save the future from the past is definitely Trekish. The Borg queen in my estimation is the weakest actor. Shes not given much and shes almost a chariticture. I'll take Tompson any day or Alice Krige any day over this and its probably not her fault this is directing failure. Notice how bombastic the music is. It's not sweeping grandeur and crescendo its melodramatic like TOS. Its better than season 1. Its watchable.

@@55elledge Its likely she tweaked the torps to use adaptive nanites to better pass through shields. The fact she used two instead of one at a time in burst shows this queen is unique. Likely as a result of her isolation with the extinction of her collective. In a way it makes her much more dangerous as for the time being we have a Queen that is a true individual.

Spoiler Alert 💔 There are talks by writers to kill them both off and replace them by younger actors. Raffi will be killed by Q but the death will be mysterious and will not obviously point to him because Elnor will come back to life and turn against Raffi. Seven will die at the hands of the Borg Queen. Some writers say by being strangled or by being tossed into space by vacuum. Both of them will die and be replaced. It will change the dynamic of the cast but the character Picard will be the focus and some old cast members from TNG even from the original series will make appearances on the show in the near future.

What I'm really wondering is......aside for plot weapons.....how EASY are (con)federation starships to be destroyed? And HOW big is his ship? (Always thought it was not much larger than 2-4 shuttles.....but those behind them are full blown ships as far as I'm aware and they seem almost as "large"?

Nova and Steam Runners were always on the smaller side for starships. Its possible that this version of the La Serena is larger than its prime counterpart. Likely heavier shielded and better armoured with heavier weapons. This isn't just a converted freighter. The fact he was using it at the glassing of Vulcan indicates that this particular version was involved in heavy fighting. I believe that the ship is labled a patrol ship and likely is a military issued vessel. That would explain how its able to put up a fight with ships larger than it. Confed I don't think had too many ships betray them to often. So countering confed defectors with ships was likely very uncommon. Another thing is these ships could be the equivelent of local patrol ships not true military vessels. Even the La Siena just came back from a campagin so she's liekyl armed to the teeth with military grade weapons and these little patrol ships are likely Confeds equivelant of your local coast gaurd. Also remember this. Nova and SteamRunners are older ship designs.

Steamrunners are pretty small when compared to something like the Enterprise - E or a majority of other ships of the same generation. They're not too much bigger than the Saber class for that matter, I think they're maybe about half the size of the Steamrunner if I remember correctly? Also, you need to keep in mind that series' like this tend to have inconsistent portrayals of their ship sizes. Take the Klingon K'vort aka Bird of Prey for instance, some versions are barely bigger than a typical Frigate hull while others are as large as some Heavy Cruisers.

La Serena is actually pretty large. At least on that shuttle/Runabout level it's WAY larger than then with at least two oversized decks. Some show it to be about the same order of bulk as a Defiant class. Less sleek but narrower.

It could be, but more than likely the World Razer does indeed looks different from the Galaxy and artisitic embellishment was likely in weapons and some superfical looks. Its likely that larger ships will have a more aggressive appearence. Smaller ships like steamrunners and Nova's would likely look closer to there more traditional counterparts. Just with different roles. After all who cares about the looks of the smaller ships they can be replaced quickly enough just have them be functional. Its the larger ships that needs to look good.

My head canon is that the writers and producers are all long time fans of Firefly/Serenity that live in a sea of perpetual butthurt over its cancellation while Star Trek series they viewed as preachy and over ideal always survived - so they took it upon themselves to destroy Star Trek and make it into what they liked instead. As far as I can see they seem to be excelling at that and nothing else, because this is anything and everything but Star Trek, let alone representative of the characters they populated Picard with to get a nostalgia crowd based greenlight.

Maybe the phasers didn’t have enough power given they shot elnor seconds after they beamed in. Or maybe they wanted to keep everyone alive for questioning but with elnor being dangerous they wanted to disable him in the best way possible (can’t imagine that confederation phasers have a stun setting)

I’ve been kind of curious about that “husband.” Is he Filipino, by any chance? EDIT: I was right. Per Memory Alpha, that guy is Isa Briones’s dad! He’s Filipino - grew up in Quezon City 🙂 Anyway: I’d love to see more Filipinos represented on TV. I don’t think we get a lot of love because folks don’t really understand us. They can’t tell what we are. Just lay off on casting us as the bad guy. We Filipinos are too busy either treating you in hospitals or delivering your mail to be the bad guy.

Crazy, as cheesy and stupidly, horriblely written script... When the borg queen was free and we were seeing from on the floor pov.. for the firsr time, trek had me shaken for that reveal. Graphics and ship scenes were amazing.. jurati as borg in thr poorly written intro is just tragic as PICCAAAARD borg scenes were awesome

Spoiler Alert 💔 There are talks by writers to kill them both off and replace them by younger actors. Raffi will be killed by Q but the death will be mysterious and will not obviously point to him because Elnor will come back to life and turn against Raffi. Seven will die at the hands of the Borg Queen. Some writers say by being strangled or by being tossed into space by vacuum. Both of them will die and be replaced. It will change the dynamic of the cast but the character Picard will be the focus and some old cast members from TNG even from the original series will make appearances on the show in the near future.

The Kelvin timeline films, Picard, Discovery, and SNW are all from a totally separate alternate universe unconnected in any way shape or form to real Star Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT and the films associated with them). The new Trek is required legally to be at least 25% different visually, tonaly, and conceptually. This is because the people making Nu Trek bought the rights to make content but don't want to share merchandising profits with the owners. If they make it 25% different then they legally don't have to share. And JJ Abrams has admitted in an interview that he doesn't understand Trek and only did it to audition for Star Wars. And he gets more money from projects if he puts his own spin on them. That is in his contract. Alex Kurtzman has publicly admitted that he has an agenda and he will use Nu Trek to promote that agenda. But this NU Trek is advertised and marketed as actual real Star Trek. These are the reasons that Nu Trek is so different and un Star Trek like,and pays no attention to established history and lore. That includes uniforms. It's also why Nu Trek is a total SJW woke shitshow. There has been no new Star Trek since Enterprise. We have been sold a bad bill of goods.

I am really concerned this version of Q is going to ruin the character. Unless the pull off something dramatically miraculous, which is highly unlikely, I have no hope for Kurtzman Trek. Recycling First Contact and half a dozen other episode plots, cherry picked and dropped throughout the season is undoubtedly Trek. They did it all throughout TNG, Voyager and Enterprise. But building a season around individual plots that have already been done with shittier writing is going to be this season's undoing. How many times do we have to got back to the well of alternate dark universes tainted by war and resembling what earth would look like if Terra Prime ended with them winning or starfleet in Yesterday's Enterprise, Going back in time to fix the future like Stormfront, The City on the Edge of Forever, Past Tense, or Future's End, and in this case especially the whole setup to First Contact? Could there possibly be something new? This feels like the writers watched some episodes and made a full season out of it. I hope to god Strange New Worlds goes back to the episodic format, or even mini arcs across a few episodes.
