Quarantine from Reality | Enakkagavaa Naan Unakkagava | Selvam | Episode 47

Many songs from the Tamil Films have been ignored periodically for reasons best known to no one. Especially, never or rarely attempted in any reality shows, stage shows or competitions.
When the nation is on a Quarantine, Subhasree Thanikachalam launches this new series.
This series will feature a set of rare songs that are rarely heard, rarely performed and she will also try and give some trivia for the songs.
The songs will all be performed by young singers who came out of her shows, which mainly focussed on old songs. The sessions are unplugged and performed with minimum instrumentation. No retakes. One stretch live performance..

Oh, what a song and what a rendition. Both the singers justified their selection. Hatts off to them. I hv an opportunity to listen to this song after a long interval. Thanks to you, Subshree. KVM - He is always my special music director. Early days i had more than 10, 90 minutes cassettes, full of his songs and i hear every day morning, before I depart for my duty. The song starts at 5.30am and it will go on until 8.10am and again it will continue in the evening. KVM made sweet and simple tunes but lots of podi sangathees. If the song had three saranams, he either change the tune of one of the saranams or different tunes for all the three saranams with different bgm. That's his special.

Fantastic Subhashree. We have been watching from raagamailika days. Way back then, when we knew you only as a person who worked so hard behind the scenes, with incredible rich choice of songs, which can happen only if you had worked so hard doing proper research on thousands of compositions. Today's song has been my all time favourite song ever. Thanks for covering this in this program. Both darapuram sundararajan and jamuna rani would be sounding refreshingly melodious. "வேறென்ன நினைவு உன்னைத் தவிர" was also one of darapuram's numbers (பவானி படம் என்று நினைவு).

true, Jamunarani ma's contribution to Srilankan films is also well known she recorded the national anthem for Srilanka in the music of Susarla Dakshinamurthy sir in late 1950's. She is on par with P Susheela ma in Srilanka.
