This song was inspired by an event that happened on a native reservation between a few natives had a stand off with the feds. It didn’t end well. This happened in 1973 the feds reacted to the Red power movement

the right has managed to convince themselves that they're not the machine being raged against. i blame their assault on education. the lack of self-awareness exhibited by genX and later generations is astounding. the truth averse millennials and genYers is confounding, being that they were raised digitally.

i dont know how some people that grew up to this era of hip hop like public enemy or the rock of the time could go completely in the other direction. how do you forget

@ Hate, like Mustaine sings “Peace sells but whose buying” I think GenX are still woke, it is ones who bullied us who chose hate, racism, and bigotry.

Yes sir, this is rap set to a hard rock soundtrack. Zach de la Rocha is a rapper and has done some work with Run the Jewels you may be interested in. Rage Against the Machine was the first rap-rock band and they came out of the L.A. punk scene in the early 90s. This song was on the album Evil Empire, released ’96. The red and black imagery represents the Zapatista Army of National Liberation, which is a guerrilla army that supports indigenous communities in Mexico, of which the band are big supporters of. If you decide to do more Rage you’ll see a recurring theme of red and black with the star. Sleep Now in the Fire, Guerrilla Radio, or Testify all great choices for a next listen and they all have music videos for visuals.

black and red flag is also the anarchist flag, which the zapatista are influenced by ;)

@leeleethebumblebee-d3z my favorite part is that the line about king and Nam is left in the movie cut (plays just as credits start rolling and then the song is edited), makes me think it's a blatant clue to what the movie is really about.

Zack is good friends with Killer Mike, and has been featured on a couple RTJ tracks, Zack also did a feature on KRS-One track. When Zack and the band parted ways for a while in the early 2000s, the band.. Tom, Brad and Tim, hooked up with Chris Cornell to form the super group Audioslave, a little bit less known is that after Audioslave the band hooked up with none other than B. Real from Cypress Hill and Chuck D. of Public Enemy to form another super group called Prophets of Rage, and did an album together, maybe two, can't remember. You should definitely check out more Rage, Wake Up and/or Take The Power Back would be my suggestions, and lyric videos on either of those, Zack drops a lot of knowledge, but it takes some getting used to, hearing specific lyrics rapping over a rock beat. Great reaction BTW ✌️💚

The music is rock, but Zack is spittin’ barz. He is so slept on as an MC. This song is about the military industrial complex.
