Reading RATM lyrics is basically a PhD in Political Science, and a masters in History. Even if you don't get all the references (as it can be dense), it gives you plenty to look up and "grow on." P.S. I also love that so many got into them for the energetic and funky music, and got a "contact high" of the politics within. I have also met plenty of Rage fans who liked the music, but were ignorant of the lyrics, which contained politics diametrically opposed to their own- like right wing cops or soldiers that bump this music, having no idea that he is calling them out, and calling for everyone to set fire to the institutions that they serve.

After all these years - still the best RATM reaction video there is. Like others have said, wish I could hear Rage for the first time again.

I saw RATM in concert. It was the best concert I have been to. The audience was so into it, we created a weather system INSIDE the arena. There was a cloud of condensation the length of the arena. it was so hot inside, the audience started pouring out before the concert ended. And it wasn't even summer. It was epic!

I love that you love it... And i think it's brilliant you so obviously finished your journey and couldn't stop listening. I'm also amused the name "Rage against the machine" didn't clue you in that they're anti establishment :-)

Come back to this every now and then to experience his unbridled joy. Still the gold standard of reaction vids.

Its too bad you had to mute that part, but it's hilarious watching you have that eargasm without sound.

I , pretty much , had the same reaction the first time I heard ”Killing in the name” , which was the first RATM song I heard ever. I was pushing 30 and has grown up on music with some sort of meaning in the lyrics , such as punk , thrash , black metal , grunge and some gangsta rap. Standing at work with the radio on in the background , it felt like someone bitchslapped me awake again , Hahaha.

Watched this several times now... and every single time I call back when I listened to RATM first time myself in some cellar bar whith a bunch of wild looking dudes, jumping up and down. Sweat dropping from the ceiling, raoring beats so incredibly load that I couldn't understand my own words.... Always puts a smile on my face... Everyone who has a sense for this kind of music and a little understanding for why and how one can use this music to spread his opinion around the world should know who Zack de la Rocha is... If you understand that a guitar can do so much more creative sounds than the stuff you know from the radio and that only the guitar for itself can create so specific moods in one particular song should know who Tom Morello is... Thanks for making me remember 😉

The best part is that the video innocently begins with "I'm not going to do what you tell me, I'm going to listen to Rage instead."

I have probably seen this reaction video 50 times. Still the best reaction video ever, two years later. I always love seeing hip-hop fans discovering angry rock and metal, and ESPECIALLY RAtM. We’re on the same side!
