MPL - SMGs - Black Ops Review - #12

Sorry if you caught this, saw it taken down, and are now catching it be put up again. I misread the recoil profile. I mixed the spectre's recoil profile with the mpl's recoil profile. Big enough mistake that I had to change it.
Life's just been a bit hectic lately. I'm working very hard at getting an engineering position, so my gaming/video editing time has been dedicated to job hunting. The good news is once I have a job, things will get back to normal.
This is the review of the mpl, and I love this gun. Largely underrated. Hope you enjoy!

The significantly better accuracy of the MPL makes if a better gun for ranged combat than the Uzi. The hipfire performance of both is identical though.

This is probably my favorite SMG, for all the reasons you've described, and one that you haven't: your emblem appears right on the back of the slide, where you can see it in all its wondrous glory. Excellent review, as always!

When I use this gun, I use it with Grip and Rapid Fire. These two attachments on this gun can only be described as amazing. It kills quick and the grip attachment reduces the kick that you get from rapid fire. However, when you're engaged at long range, you'll have to burst fire the weapon. This weapon really is a "get up close and personal".

Just realized another thing you could add to the gun reviews are where the clantags and emblems are placed on the guns. Some show off emblems/tags better then others. It would mean spending an extra 2000 points (I think).

@NiteshadeX2 I'm still tinkering with it. My current tech set-up is a bit in limbo, and I'm currently working on gaining employment as an engineer, so admittedly improving the video format/quality/etc. is way down on the list of priorities right now.

When i 1st saw this i was like: who the hell is this guy?! But as the video progressed I was quickly slapped in the face by the dialogue, humor and most of all, the information! That was a truly splendid video! Scavenger Pro Warlord pro-Grip & rapid fire Hacker Pro I really enjoy this setup, its super effective and a plethora of fun to use!

MPL rapid fire grip was the way to go. Definitely needed scavenger too. Ease up on those iron sights, those rails did the trick.

Warlord this puppy with a suppressor and rapid fire and it is an absolute beast. The two cancel eachother out beautifully so that the recoil is about the same as without rapid fire, and the rapid fire makes the damage about the same as without the suppressor. So basically you get a quiet gun that acts like a loud one. Go ghost and ninja make some kids UPSET when you destroy them up close all day long.

32 rounds is bliss in a game where half the smgs have 20 rounds with 80 reserve

I was playing on PS3 zombies, and I was trying to get a trophy where you buy every gun off the wall. I bought the MPL and I shot some zombie and it only sounded like I'd fired seven shots, but my current magazine went from 24 bullets to 10 bullets. Imagine how bad it would be with a double tap!

@Drummermoose777 If you pick dual mags, then don't pick scavenger. The same applies vice versa. Both work. Dual Mags + Red dot is a bit more about being precise with your shots, while scavenger + rapid fire is more about mowing down your opponents with a bullet hose

Good luck on the job hunt. I just graduated with an engineering degree and am looking myself. I love the MPL. Slap dual mags and use SoH for a lightning fast rusher's weapon. Also, I loved the clips in this video they had me laughing. Are you going to do a "closing" video of the SMGs when you're done? Just to say your final thoughts about them?

@thezachster18 We're on the same page. Up next is two smaller subjects and then the assault rifles. Doing 11 videos for the smgs is a bit of a grind. 9 guns + MP40 + Intro. I'm dropping the intro in the future.

I've been trying out this gun recently (maybe a week or so) and it really is very good. Along side the spectre, the MPL is one of my favourite guns. I've been using for hip fire only, pretty much, and it's been working out great. I had dual mags + scav + steady aim but I might switch out steady aim following your review. Can't wait for your next review :)

Am I the only one that loves the irons but hates the way the red dot sights kind of curve when you look left an right? Reminds me of the M16 from Mw2. Good review Amish, I do love the MPL but it's a shame the community is essentially in a state of "Ghost AK-74u second Chance" fight :/.

You nailed it perfectly with my favorite SMG. I bet it would see more play if people didn't have the AK74u so bogged up in their head as "the best" Hey though, after seeing a review like this for it, maybe I'll start to see some more of it in my TDM games. Personally, I run mine with Dual mags to free up my perk 1 slot for Ghost. SMGs live off of close quarters, and being able to rush into the holy area unnoticed is a godsend. Granted, without a suppressor, it seems odd. SOH > Warlord for me.

@shortdrummer991 I've actually quite literally just made a list of stuff I can go into. the list is long. Shotguns, assault rifles, perks, pistols, launcher, lmgs, snipers.....etc. I will do the shotguns. I'm actually very hopeful that I'll be able to do all weapons/perks/killstreaks before MW3 is out. When will I do the shotguns? Probably sooner rather than later since they are a primary, but I also want to finish the perks and do the assault rifles and killstreaks. Lots on the table you see.

@EnglandFan78 In general, it's about 2 min of review = 1 hr of work. Gotta record the footage, edit it for the decent clips, write a script, watch the video to find flaws, find clips which fit. With time, I've gotten quicker and better at figuring out how to do this stuff.

Actually, I HATE using the reflex sight on the MPL, the backwards kick just screws me up. Honestly, I sort of like the iron sights to a point, but not too much. I'll either use the Dual Mags, Red Dot Sight, Grip, or Supressor. Why the supressor? The 4-5 Hit kill doesn't mean much to me, infact they feel relatively the same, so I use the MPL with the silencer, and use the high rate of fire to counter the lowered damage.

What I tried to say was I understand if you like the Spectre, 74u, or Skorp better than this, but not if you liked the Uzi, PM63 ect. The irons are funny but everything else is almost the same as te Spectre. I personally like the MPL recoil better, but to each his own. I guess thats the general theme of BO, since all the guns are similar, we all have our own preferences that make us choose 1 gun over another.

I hate the mpl just because of the weird kick and odd look really. It doesn't feel like a gun and it never seems to have any potential to kill in my hands. The spectre is just so dandy, in that it can use any of it's attachments perfectly. The skorps are fun dual wield, rapid fire, or even extended mags. The 74 noob is just sex. It feels like a real gun, has the killing power of the assault rifles, reloads quickly and has perfect irons and cocain level movement.I go with gun feel over stats.

Amish i'm really liking the reviews. A quick thing of advice that i think might work well. Doing the smaller sections of guns first (lmgs, shotguns, launchers etc) will make it seem like more category's of things in black ops to be covered. So if you are strapped for time, maybe work on the weapon section with not a lot of guns so it seems you are making a lot of progress.

@MarrickFait I definitely miss my AC-130's, but I'm happy with this game. The killstreaks don't dominate the game. Each game has a lot of fun killstreaks, so I guess it really comes down to stackable vs. non-stackable killstreaks. I like non-stackable killstreaks, though I wouldn't spurn it's return. So.....I guess leaning slightly towards BO. You value your killstreaks more since you actually have to work for them.

I just wish there was a higher killstreak to work for, IE Nuke, or maybe a stronger version of Nova gas, Maybe a Nova gas Strike from the Campagn. I just feel like the Hind of this game, isn't on par with the AC-130, at least give it another flare, what's the point of using it if you can take it out as easily as a Huey?

i use Scavenger Pro Slight of Hand Pro and Marrathon Pro and the Dual Mags with the MPL, it is an AMAZING gun with it but i do admit its a little over but is fun to use :)

the iron sights are great! you can do good with them. you dont need the red dot or reflex sight.

@MonsterHunter971 i gotta agree with you on this, lightweight is very useful for the other weapons but smgs you have pritty much full sprint anyways,,, but if people wanna rush lightweight does give you that slight advantage when you run it with an smg :) I like to run hardline so I can get those puppies quicker,

@weatherallc05 yeah but not as much on an smg, look flat jacket immune to explosives, ghost your invisible to almost all killstreaks, scavenger never run out of ammo and hardline get your killstreaks faster really compared to these lightwieght is the least useful
