I went on a bit of a tirade with this one. I've always done my best to show how guns can be good by showing good footage of said gun. Couldn't do it with this one. I really, really hate this gun.

this gun had a place in my heart for this game :) 1. in a game where many smgs were 20 rounds, this one could be more than double, not to mention highest in tier 2. it's ext. mag feature was notably useful in domination 3. I found the kick and sights highly encouraged me to use the gun in ranges that the smgs were most effective. never used a sight on this one 4. the decoy grenade (which I also appreciated) was 90% of the time the uzi sound clip as an extra tactical bonus 5. therefore, a very effective gun if you weren't an average braindead codster or a potato

When I played BO1, I used the uzi with extended mags. I would argue it's mandatory for the gun. It's a four hit kill at best with bad accuracy. But with extended mags and steady aim, you don't need accuracy. Part of what made the Uzi so bad is that the smgs can engage at medium range. We've all gotten long range kills with accurate smgs before. The Uzi is just really difficult at that range. Burst fire makes it somewhat manageable.

Am I really gonna be the one to say it? I am. I LIKE THIS GUN. This thing has the biggest capacity in its class, and if you use it correctly, by hip firing with steady aim, you can take on multiple enemies quite easily. It's good for practicing recoil taming too

I can't remember all the details, but my brother once used the Uzi with Rapid Fire, Fore-grip (or was it Extended Mags?), and the perk Steady Aim to turn it essentially into a close-to-medium range shotgun. And quite surprisingly, he did very well with this setup on domination matches. And in case you're wondering, he did not use the sights. Only from the hip.

+TheBillyReb It'd be the Grip. Rapid Fire and Extended Mags is an illegal combination in Black Ops (as is Rapid Fire and Dual Mags, but the Uzi doesn't have Dual Mags).

you can't use the Uzi with rapid fire/grip and steady aim. Both warlord and steady aim are tier 2 perks.

I don't think a sight is mandatory at all. The only minor advantage of this gun is the large clip size, and 32 rounds with poor accuracy and damage is often not enough to kill multiple enemies without reloading. You might kill two, but three would be extremely difficult. With a 48 round clip though, lots of options open up. You can use steady aim and do decently well from the hip in close quarters. You can engage groups of enemies from the side or rear and get multiple kills without needing to reload. You can add the grip and increase the weapon's effective range. When I'm actually trying to do well with this gun, I run with extended mags and the grip. If I didn't like tomahawks so much I'd consider the grip and sleight of hand instead, but I really do appreciate the larger clip size. I found that the sights are definitely something you can get used to, especially if you're using this gun at close range as intended.

+Andrew Wang I honestly don't see what's so bad about it after watching the review. Sure, Amish hates it and I used to be on the stupid hate bandwagon for the weapon, but to be honest, I don't see much wrong on the weapon. Your recoil is basically a symmetric 30 upwards, and you have 1600 centerspeed. Some weapons kill to have a centerspeed like that, and the Kiparis with a Grip reaches the Uzi's centerspeed. You also have a 32 round magazine and the option for Extended Mags, placing it at an unparalleled 48 round magazine in the category, a good niche it can fill. You have an SMG with weak bullets and a strong recoil per shot, but you have the best magazine capacity in the tier, one that can match the G11, and 1600 centerspeed. Who cares if the iron sights are shit? You're just going to use them to enhance your accuracy at close range anyways, where SMG's aren't outclassed by Assault Rifles, LMG's, or Sniper Rifles.

weakestlink20 Almost every SMG has a faster TTK and lower recoil than the Uzi, with much better reload (especially when factoring reload cancelling), better irons, and more. Center speed only matters when viewed in conjunction with kick, which in this case is godawful. You can have near-infinite center speed and infinite recoil and the gun would still suck. Anyway, I'm fairly certain that most SMGs have a 1600 center speed or better. Capacity doesn't matter because the Uzi is weaker per bullet. If you have a gun that hypothetically does twice the damage of another gun per bullet but had a mag 33% smaller, then it still has more killing power per mag. If they made the Uzi a 45 round SMG by default tomorrow, it'd still be far worse than the 74u. As it is, those two extra bullets it has over most other SMGs is laughable in their significance--particularly in a game like Black Ops with its shit hit detection and the obsession of players using last stand. Having shit iron sights is worse than having good iron sights. And most people competent at CoD still engage others with an SMG at medium distances--though I suppose with a gun of as high recoil as the Uzi's, the tap firing you're forced to do with such a low DPS gun would make it a fruitless endeavor even with good sights.

Andrew Wang Besides the MP5K, Skorpion, and AK-74u up close, all SMG's have the same TTK up close, with the same multipliers and range. The high fire rate, low damage SMG's sacrifice close range potency for better performance outside optimal range, which is minimal, which I will agree with. Your kick is only 30 upwards and that's it. You have 50 going down to help out with the 80 going up, with the 70 on either side nullifying each other. Even if you don't like it, it's but a mere look downwards to adjust for the recoil. It's very simple. 48 rounds per magazine is very sizable, which is a size that only the Galil can best between the SMG and Assault Rifles. With that high fire rate, this makes the Uzi very forgiving in a close quarters scenario. Even if you don't want to aim, you have great SMG handling, and accurate hip-fire. Actually, hip-fire is the Uzi's best strength to play off of: with the combination of a high fire rate, good capacity, and the SMG handling, you can basically best your enemies by just simply hip-firing. I consider this one to be the most effective SMG at this strategy, as it has the biggest potential magazine capacity of SMG's combined with a fast fire rate, making it so if you miss (which you will), that fire rate keeps your TTK much more consistent than with one of the 750 RPM SMG's, and your magazine size rarely leaves you wanting more bullets for gunfights. Long range gunfights in Black Ops are obviously an area to avoid with the SMG's. If you find yourself engaging at such a distance, you're going to lose unless your enemy also has an ineffective long range weapon or they're just that bad. Your low damage per bullet in comparison to LMG's and Assault Rifles will leave you at a severe disadvantage, even if you can react quickly and land the first shot before your opponent can. It's not the Uzi's problem, either, as every SMG is victim to this in Black Ops. None of them stand out for long range whatsoever. There's no oddball SMG that goes against the sand and works well at long range in Black Ops, either, like the UMP-45 or the Peacekeeper.

I actually like using the Uzi. As amish said, warlord with an optic and grip, sprinkle on the scavenger and hacker perks, add a full auto CZ75 and i found myself one of my favorite class setups

@davidson175 The F2000 had stats to back it up. It had a high rate of fire and nice irons. I just couldn't find a stat to argue for the Uzi with. To make the Uzi useful, find some way that the Uzi is better than the Spectre or MPL. I just couldn't find it.

Actually, I forgot that a key trait is using rapid fire/grip at the same time. Oddly, I think rapid fire makes the recoil a bit better, and with grip it makes it decent. Still spray from the hip though

Decent might be an overstatement, considering the 'quickscope patch' trollarch used to balance the snipers. I can't tell you how many times i've point blanked and enemy in the chest with the Walther only to be ran through with a galil/ak74/famas. At long range it is inferior to the PSG and definitely the L96 arctic warfare, and at short range you might as well fart at the enemy for better effect.

I thought the Uzi was terribly unusable at first as well. The Irons are flat out grody and the recoil, even with the Grip is unmanageable. But I've found that if you simply do not ADS, and rely instead on Hipfire, the Uzi can be a powerful SMG to suit the role. I use the Uzi with the Grip, Scav Pro and Steady Aim with Marathon. Crossbow to help in longer engagements. Give it a shot. It works well.

I love the Uzi. It's my 2nd favorite SMG (After the MP5k). This gun is effective with Extended Mags and Steady Aim. I think that a high RPM, big mags, and high kick should tell you to fire the thing from the hip. And,the gun is fun to Troll with. I start out bored. I equip an Uzi, and ten minutes later, I am grinning.

I've find a setup which is somehow useful. Uzi + grip + scavenger + steady aim + any third tier perk. Spraying from the hip may be quite effective at close range, while you may score a kill at mid while ADS (of course if you get used to the sights). But still, I find any of the dual-wield SMGs (Skorpion, MAC-11, PM-63 or Kiparis) superior.

@smellyninja808, it's 'recoil recovery', how quickly your aim recenters to near where you aimed after jumping around because of recoil. The less time the gun has to resettle (high ROF, Rapid Fire) and the lower the center speed, the more your aim is going to climb during firing. That's why the Uzi is an unintentional headshot machine.

I used to love this gun, think it was underrated, and it was my third most used weapon back in the day. I can see why I thought several other guns were underrated, but this thing. it's physically impossible to aim even with grip. it's like the only gun were ADSing DECREASES your odds of survival.

I tried the Uzi. I kind of like it. I'm so used to not to ADS anyway (I'm used to playing Quake3). So it makes sense for me to do well in it. Just use steady aim, and u'll do fine. Just pick up a dead foe's long range weapon for a back up. Switch to Uzi in closed spaced areas, then switch to rifle for open ranges.

Ya the studio did a really good job in making the M14. In game the M14 handles very much like my actual M1A. But they did bad at making the Uzi. The M14 kicks straight up, just like in real life at the range. The Uzi is very, very hard to control, kicking everywhere. (Cartman voice) It's wrong! It's wrong! My (semi auto) Uzi is incredibly easy to handle and barely has any kick at all, its like shooting my old BB gun from when I was 10. If the studio wants to make the Uzi realistic they need to drop the kick and up the center speed. The weapon should be very easy to hold on target, and only useful at close range. That would be a realistic Uzi.

On the whole sometimes it wants to be accurate and sometimes it doesn't, I don't know about anyone else but even back in MW2 and probably even COD4 (since it's the same engine, I think) but I've come to notice the recoil changes from clip to clip. It was mostly noticeable in the ACR of MW2 that had nearly no recoil what so ever. One clip fired from the hip created a tiny round grouping while the next made a larger circular grouping, then the next was small again and so on. Could just be me.
