Raider vs. Dyna Rematch! Harley vs Yamaha! Freedom 2-into-1 Raider 1900 Exhaust, Walk Around, Sound, Drag Race!
Today on Jon's Moto Garage we're checking out the return of the Yamaha Raider 1900cc (113 cubic inch) MONSTER V-Twin! The new owner was kind enough to roll back through and show us some of the upgrades he's made to the bike since purchasing it. He added Freedom 2-into-1 blacked out exhaust (sounds mean)! He also removed some of the chrome pieces. But the real reason he returned is to battle it out once again on the drag strip! That's right! We're doing a Harley Davidson 130 cubic inch Club Style Dyna vs Yamaha Raider 1900 (113 cubic inch) Monster! There's no doubt in my mind who the winner is! But we'll let the race speak for itself. Now this was not the best coordinated set up; however, there is still a clear winner no doubt!

I had a Warrior. I put an exhaust on it mostly because I hated the Bazooka that came on it stock. The new one made it sound like an old tractor. I remember riding the Raider when it first came out and thinking how much more refined it felt with the stock pipe. That said, the stock Raider pipes look awful too. That exhaust he's got on there now looks great on that bike. Yami could really make that bike killer with a couple simple fixes. Those goofy angled rear fender struts need to be black and a more conventional shape like HDs and that big chrome thing on the tank needs to be thrown in the trash and replaced with a Breakout style speedo on the bar. Fix that and it's a sex machine!
@JonsMotoGarage

Heck yeah! I agree with all of the above - from the warrior bazooka exhaust til the end. Lol. Yeah, wouldn't take much to really make the raider a heavy hitter. I think yamaha must not have done a very good job marketing it either. It seems that not a ton of people know about them. But once they do, most are fans.

Raider is unbelievably smooth for an 1853. I've ridden both the Road Star Warrior and the Raider. Raider is vastly smoother. Those gear driven counterbalance shafts make it sound really unique, with that whirr mixed with deep rumble. Almost sounds supercharged.

@@V0IW i would definitely get the tuner. Its well worth its money. After all you paid thousands for the bike right? Whats another measly $300 to make sure your bike runs properly. Tuner will correctly mix fuel to air ratio for perfect performance. If you have any issues with install or programming it just call Vance & Hines tech support and they will gladly assist you. I've got kawasaki vulcan with aftermarket pipes and air intake and V & H tuner. Programmed it to what manual suggested. (had a few different settings). None seemed to work cause was getting backfire and popping. Called V & H and they gave me some other codes to try. After trying them found the one where it ran perfectly with no backfire or popping. The performance increase was noticeably significant. Im no expert but i would say gained 10hp on the bottom end cause it takes off like a beast and works through the gears fairly quickly. The words "Rice Burner" comes to mind. Good luck hope this helps! 👍😎🇺🇸

@humblewarriorus 5 жыл бұрын
brendan robichaud you will always get a o2 sensor code or catalytic converter code if you are running rich or lean, meaning not the right fuel/ air mixture in the combustion chamber. You need the tuner if you modify exhaust or intake etc. The o2 sensor reads any gases or fuel or air that escapes the engine without being burned and that gives you the code doesn’t mean the actual sensor is bad. Best way to diagnose a o2 sensor is reading the engine data, should be fluctuating between 150ishmv to 850mv, is you see it stuck at a number than it is bad. I don’t know if it makes sense to you but thought i share this with you.

@@JonsMotoGarage Its quite easy to learn. Set the bike at torque peak. Find clutch release point. Position yourself to launch . full throttle at the second light coming on and dump the clutch. It always works or it doesn't. Works for me.

We weren't very well coordinated with the races, no doubt. But no, definitely wasn't letting him pull away like that intentionally - I was wide open throttle. The raider hands down had the edge on the dyna. No surprise having ridden the two personally. He actually won the first race as well (if you look closely in the footage) - he pulled ahead but started slowing down for the bump in the road.

Litterally every other brand and style of bike is ALLLWAAAYS trying to race Harley cruisers! If cruisers are so slow like you all say,then why is it the number 1 most challenged bike eveeer?? Because you guys know Harley is the top dog. Not in performance,but name. And since noone can beat us in name, you guys are trying to prove that you can beat us in something. That's why Harley is the best and Yamaha dropped their cruiser line.

Lol. Not so much sleeping; rather, we weren't very well coordinated. Regardless, the raider still would've won. To your point, that's exactly what I said at the end of the vid, "we discovered two things today: the raider is a faster bike, and the anonymous raider rider is a much better rider." I never claimed to be a good drag racer - it's not something I've ever really practiced. But maybe I'll put some work into learning to launch and power shift. We're just having a fun time riding. Either way, thanks for watching and commenting!

No doubt I need practice with drag racing and the starts weren't great at all. Lol. There was some miscommunication with all that. Regardless the 103 doesn't stack up to the 113 when it comes down to the drag race. I don't have anything to lose or gain by faking the results or letting the raider win. At the end of the day, I'm a fan of both bikes. The dyna happens to fit my likes at the moment, even though it doesn't beat the raider in the straights. As always, thanks for checking the vid!

Hey nice vid man!! I have a question maybe you can bring some light to me haha, I own a yamaha stratoliner 1900cc and I'm having this issue with her sometimes, the thing is sometimes I'm riding on it and let's say I'm in 5th gear at 60 M/Hr and then I have to slow down because a turn is coming so I start slowing down closing the throttle slowly and using the breaks as well to take the turn and shifting down on the gears right? But something happens than the bike shuts down completely when I'm slowing down the speed and shifting down the gears I don't know if I'm messing something when squeezing the clutch lever or what but as soon as I start slowing down and shifting down to let's say 2nd gear it feels like the lost of speed and power makes the engine like it wants to choke and it shuts the bike off, I made her her service recently, change the spark plugs, the air filter, the gas pump, engine oil but this issue keeps bothering, it doesn't do it all the time but it does do it more frequently than I like :/ do you have any idea of what could it be???
