UHS O 664 GRU - What a nice ride that was! Thank you very much for sharing this! I have seen many of your videos - but still I like those of the Bergen Line best. First I was thinking that it would be really nice to have a "double-video" of the Bergen Line: A "heavy-snow-version" on the left and a "summer-version" on the right side. Then I thought about the required synchronization nightmare, and then I thought "maybe that's not the best of all ideas". ;)
@leifstrandbech7698 ай бұрын

Thank you :D I agree with you. The interesting thing is the stark difference in the topography from the east side and west side of the country. @RailCowGirl8 ай бұрын
I know right. The green stuff is making me sneeze. LOL! I took a chance and rendered a video. I was not sure how the system would cope with it, but it managed to complete it. I still need to flush out the whole loop after the coolant collapsed. Tried to use the EK Mystic Fog for that omph, but it collapsed and went clear. Now I need to clean out the particles from the loop.. Don't understand how it could break down as I was building this thing in complete compliance with EK's specs.
@gth0428 ай бұрын
@@RailCowGirl How can I word this politely... PC/gamer gear is full of products and claims not rooted in science. To quote Elon Musk a little out of context "...Yeah, it's a hussle." 🤔 Take sodium 2 ethylhexanoate for example (used as a colorant for that Mystic Fog). Take a look at the molecular structure. It has that long hydrocarbon tail. The easily removed polar end (with the O's) is the only thing making that ingredient water soluble. Compare its general structure to "lipid molecular structure" on Google search. Note a similar polar end and "greasy" nonpolar tail. That structure will naturally clump and want to come out of a watery solution by at least three easily demonstrated mechanisms. EK makes nice stuff, but their chemists suck -- at least at making quality products rather than ones that sell. ...This is just one ingredient, and we haven't even started on reaction chemistry. The only thing in a PC coolant loop that isn't in a modern car engine somewhere is the acrylic. I'd stick to rubber hoses and POM/Delrin instead of acrylic wherever possible, but acrylic having a problem with auto fluid and reverse-osmosis filtered water is a serious stretch. The cost of those fancy colors and clear tubing is well beyond it's purchase price -- especially for someone who's really busy like yourself. Pure water is great for this type of cooling but needs help in a few ways: It needs a biocide for the inevitable alge or other biological growth Pure water is actually a fairly aggressive solvent and readily makes electrolytes (corrosion in this case). It needs a little corrosion inhibitor. It boils, and formation of bubbles is bad for thermal conductivity and the life of the heated surface. It needs something to raise its boiling point. It has other drawbacks such as freezing, but we'll stop here. Automotive antifreeze checks these boxes and many more. Upwards of 25% auto antifreeze should provide more than enough protection. Just make sure it's for newer engines. In the US, at least, we can buy "old formula" stuff for muscle cars that might not have enough corrosion protection. For flushing, you're going to need a surfactant and degreaser. I suspect laundry soap and reverse-osmosis water will perform well without too much foaming (I'm assuming US machine detergents are the same as in Norway). I would also swap the pipes to run it back and forth. Reverse-osmosis water is important for the soap/scrubbing step (most US bottled water has added minerals). R/O water will be good for getting the detergent out of there as well. Rinse at least twice. Anything you can take apart and clean mechanically ahead of time (toothbrush) might be worth the effort. The Internet is full of people with ideas, just like what I've written here. My goal is to give you something you can search with and do your own homework. It's importat you feel confident in what you're doing if you go against a profit-seeking company's recommendation. Stupid coolant loops aside, I hope you have a pleasant weekend and hope you enjoy the green more than it makes you suffer. 😄

@@RailCowGirl Well, KZbin seems to have deleted my old comment (maybe too long?). In net though, EK isn't a chemistry company. A quick look at the Mystic Fog, for example, includes ingredients that are prone to "schmutzing" -- one being a blue dye. Laundry soap, reverse-osmosis water, flush back and forth, more R/O water rinse, and try 25% or less automotive radiator fluid for new cars. Clean anything you can take apart with a toothbrush. Maybe the old comment is visible to you but not me. But, the most important part is I hope you have nice weekend and are able to manage the allergies.
