Dan, again another great video! I loved the ground footage to really get a sense of just how long those trains are. It must have been a hard climb for that train to use that many engines. Nice Job Friend!

Awsome video! The drone footage was amazing as was the ground footage, nice to see that the vestiges of the old SP still live on. Huge trains mid and rear units needed and lots of smoke at tunnels.

Every time I see one of the darker colored CP locomotives like 8064, I am reminded of the old SP box cars, and they seem to use the same font. With those last scenes, you understand why SP was placing the cabs on the front of the steam locomotives.

Just imagine when it was the sd40T-2 and SD45T-2 era when the motors lacked ac units and there was no DPU's and the mid train helpers where manned as where the rear pushers.
@stanpatterson50335 жыл бұрын
Can't imagine what it was like on the steam loco's, but I'd like to think that the guys doing that for a living would either get used to it quickly, or find a different job! As for diesels, I'd like to think that the windows and doors would shut tightly and have no drafts, but unfortunately, I know it's not quite that good. I guess they'd just close up as tightly as they could, stay calm and still and try not to breathe a lot until they popped out the other side. Heaven forbid the train should be slowed or stopped while they were in there, they'd die in there. What's the length of that tunnel, anyways?

Great drone video in awesome location. Glad I found your channel. Like that train exiting the tunnel with all that exhaust bellowing out of the tunnel. I can almost smell it. You must have gotten a nose full. Seems like the vids I have seen are 2-3 yrs old. Have you done anything more recent?

@stevenschmollinger57525 жыл бұрын
Beautiful videography and choreographing of the imagery. One thing I would change is to cut away more often from the music to the actual sounds of the train. Add some real-time train sound if possible from the drone footage. Would help break things up. Became a bit boring to me with long stretches without real-time overhead train sounds. Great images and drone work!
@TheRailfanDan5 жыл бұрын
Drones do not record sound because all you would hear is the buzzing of the propellers, so if you add sound it has to be from another source on the ground and it is tricky to try and match up sound from the ground in a single locations to the drone footage when you continue to move the drone with the train. I have done it a couple times before but it takes MUCH more effort to do so and make it sound realistic to the drone video.

I've achieved over two miles once but that is tricky. You've really got to be out in the middle of no where. The less populated the area the better range you'll get.
