I live in Revelstoke so I see this multiple times everyday. The climb from Greely (which is just outside of Revelstoke) to Albert Canyon is not too bad. The climb from Albert Canyon to Glacier is significant. Where you filmed at Glacier headed Eastbound is where the train enters the tunnel that goes underneath the Rogers Pass summit and then reappears in Beaver Valley below the Eastside of the Summit. There are still parts of the old right away going right over the summit that you can walk on in the Summer. (Too much snow in the Winter to be able to do that way up there).

Thank you for doing all of the work you did to get this great quality video to share with us. I'm impressed with the power of those GE 9-44's too.

The station at Glacier is now gone. The roof had collapsed from the snow load and now the wreckage has been hauled away.

You should read the short story "Runaway at Flat Creek" about a unit coal train that crashed near the place (albert canyon) where you were filming in 1978

One of the clearest videos I have watched so far on trains in USA and Canada. It is interesting to note, the engines are spread out along the length of the trains in Canada instead of towards the front in most of the American trains. Does it provide more pulling power as in Canada, I mean as in this video?

I guess the reason is that it doesn't put the entire pull of the train into one coupling as concentrating the locomotives in front does.

Having a locomotive or two in the middle pushes the front half of the consist, and pulls the later half, which definitely puts less strain on the couplings. Western Canada trains usually have 2 locos up front, 1 or 2 in the middle and sometimes one at the end as well.

Read about "string theory" the DPUs keep the train from being pulled straight (and off the rails)in sharp curves
