it's certainly a hassle! try to use the crosstrack trick as much as possible, also using the switches can sometimes help to start off a curve without the awkward wiggle ^-^

If your building a bridge and you press ALT you can freely place it without it snapping. hope this helps you get cleaner tracks down, it helped me immensely and my tracks let me got 100% reg with the D&G class 70 with 21 cars without derailing. 4:00 when you have some spare time you should really make that turn wider, anything over 30 degrees is really sharp especially with a longer train. If you are going to pull more than 5 I’d recommend 10-15 degrees of turn

It would be wise next time to not hang the heaviest load to the end of the train. Usually, in real trains you'll see the heavy load packed just in front behind the engine, so first the oil, then the hoppers and then all the fringe stuff. It is like this in the real world, it is like this on H0 models and it is not surprisingly like that here. Yes, that means you need additional tracks to rearrange your train at certain stations. But of course I'm Captain Obvious here, you surely have come to the same conclusion. I just can't hold me back to blabber it out. I really like your clips, for it's learning by seeing. Nobody said railroading was easy.

@daveb.43833 жыл бұрын
You need the class 70 it is a true Mountain climber with it's 8 drive wheels, LARGER boiler, pistons and it's a lot heavier than the Mogul as well. I found that it never works hard no matter what I do and can start on a steep grade easily at a dead stop as well.
@indisputablefacts85073 жыл бұрын
I just made the same run. I drug 2 cordwood cars, 3 loaded with lumber, 6 with beams and 2 empty hoppers. I used Betsy (I haven't played enough to afford a new engine), and it took 7min or so and ran it on 25% regulator pretty much the whole way. My rail is mostly the same route - although my bridge past the waterfall is about midway up the waterfall, not all the way on top of it like yours. The grade is 3-4% most of the way. Betsy needs a nerf or the entire rest of the range needs a buff. I think the physics of this game is such that the big deal is avoiding curves, particularly sharp ones and S'es, is 10x more important than grade. If you want to plug a feature (because I bet the devs watch your channel), it would be a "Shift-F" keystroke that takes you out of the cab *without* messing with the brake and regulator. That and NPC's that will load/unload cars for money.

@@KerboOnYT you said that you for sure want to get rid of the bridge so you could smooth out the grade down the hill and have a little longer way down that’s the way i’ve done it and the rest to the waterfall is pretty much the same as your track worked for me with the Class 70 she might have a little more power but has a lot of extra weight i think you’d do it with 15 carts and the mogul i pulled 10 full carts of lumber and my reg was all the way down at 60% didn’t need more

17:08 you might try doing a double loop (in style of Williams train loop) in this place to reduce grade. It works for me, I managed to pull 12 planks/beams (1 to 2 ratio) with Porter II with 50% regulator. And it doesn't look that bad compared to skybridges. I'd show you some screenshots how it might look, but KZbin blocks links to Imgur...

Long comment, so long story short. Need two engines and a system to do so on solo, to work those steep grades. Perhaps steeper grades (think of the times in rail history when the grades were indeed insane) are better than windy curves and S's? Could be a terrible idea of mine. I just see those curves causing more trouble than a grade might on the mogul Edit; I just remembered those straight, steep mountain grades I'm thinking of were helped along by teams of horses and men. Another engine working with the mogul might do, this I am unsure of. But they are linkable and I've seen it done in another video. Operating two at once solo will require a lot of thought and trial, though.

Kerbo did you put sand in the sand dome after loading in? If you didn't you there was no sand in the dome, it's a bug with the Mogul, Eureka and Heisler, I don't know about other loco's. I'd recommend building a service stop at the bottom of the Iron Ore Mine grade, where you stopped to put fuel in the firebox, to load up on fuel, water and sand. I also lose frames on the Iron Ore Mine cut but only when running trains longer than 8 car's, so you're not the only one.
@KerboOnYT3 жыл бұрын
There's been sand in there every time I checked in the past but if that's a new bug it might have been empty
