I cant compare. But that's how I am with my one year old. After he got a seizure from a fever. He sleeps in his toddler bed next to my bed. So whenever he wants he gets up and crawls into my bed. And I'm constantly checking his temperature. Because that's how it all started. I feel bad for her and her stress level must be beyond. She is paranoid. And I dont blame her since rob is the only person she has. They should have a baby incase if something did happen to rob (hopefully nothing does), at least she wont be alone and she will have a baby to give her company. I just hope they over come this and get better.

Probably to her it’s self assuring to see rob breathing. I do it with my mom since she suffered a heart attack almost 3 years ago. I still do it to this day. It’s comforting to see the person you love and care for breathing.
@bekaz135 жыл бұрын
While that would be more convenient, from a mental health standpoint it could be worse for her in the long run. For some people, having a constant monitor would just make them check more frequently and increase their anxiety. Checking on him may be important for him, but for her it's important that she is able to walk away.

Honestly the best advice you could give to both Corinne and Rob during this time is just that: be kind to yourselves. It's very easy to fall into a mindset of being much crueler to yourself after you've experienced trauma, no matter if it's about the trauma itself or about unrelated matters. The two of them need to be easier and kinder on themselves on this road for their own sakes. Everything adds up, even small things such as using food dye as opposed to making dye naturally.

I remember during your blog where you gave up alcohol, etc. that you mentioned one of your anxieties is when Rob leaves you are afraid he won't be back. His having a heart attack and essentially dying for 20 minutes, couldn't possibly have helped that anxiety. Really pretty inconsiderate on his part (lol ;)) I think anyone who has ever loved some one so fiercely (partner, child, parent...) would do the same. No shame in that. But thank you for sharing your story. I keep saying it, but it helps so much to know others have the same emotions and anxieties and that you aren't alone. Sending good vibes your way every day!

yeah, my father had 2 heart attacks a couple years ago and to this day when I see him sleeping or sitting very still I have this terror that he has died and I cannot leave without making sure he is still breathing/moving (like he could just be watching TV and I still have this strong anxiety in my heart cause I don't see him move at all and then he finally moves or I hear him breathing and I feel relieved)

I can't live without my brother. We annoy each other but one of my biggest anxietys is being alone for along period of time like 5-6 hours it only really comes out when I'm home alone which is very rare but I don't really trust myself to be Alone Because of things in the past, I haven't had anyone die on me but I can kinda relate to Corrines fear. I hope she's getting better mental health wise, same for Rob. I hope to be a therapist one-day so I can help people cope with what they've been through.

I’m really glad you guys are talking to someone after that trauma and being gentle with yourselves. The internet is full of unsolicited advice and I’m adding right now. Here are a few apps (I think all free) that might help offer additional support. I’m also a counselor and I find that these give pretty general support so they shouldn’t interfere with your current therapy to use. If they are counterindicated by your therapist, do with what your therapist advises. These apps aren’t meant to replace therapy. I have a lot of clients who have seen progress with these kinds of support: Cara and Lifecycle: these two are good for tracking your baselines and measuring how much time you are putting into self-care. When we are stressed it is harder to stay balanced and I find these help. Sanvello (formerly Pacifica) and mood meter: these two are great. The first one has mindfulness and guided meditation, goal and gratitude boards, and a progressive journal that teaches you to identify and overcome thought distortions, and you Can link your journal to your therapist if you want. The second one is just a grid style emotion tracker that puts emotion on a plane of high-low energy and positive-negative experience. It’s good for the days when you are having a hard time figuring out how you feel. Lastly I really like Habitica and focusgrid. I have a hard time staying organized and getting back on track when I’m going through something -ADHD- and these help incentivize and organize tasks but in a way that doesn’t feel pushy or give you negative feedback if you don’t achieve.

Playlist Person hey, it’s okay, it’s not rude. Rob had a heart attack and had to undergo a lot of treatments because of which he is very weak now. They’ve made a video explaining it, too.

7 Cups is also another very helpful app. You can talk to an online therapist, talk in group discussions or have a listener listen to whatever you want to talk about. This app also features growth paths which show you how to deal with different situations. Growth paths you can choose from range from mental health issues to relationship issues to work/school stress.

Skyler being there as a support is an awesome thing! When health concerns reach a max, it's invaluable to have other hands to help. And I'm so glad you have the "I don't need to do unnecessary things if they stress me out" mindset going for your therapy, Corrine. It's a hard one to maintain, but it can really help when healing and you just aren't going be able to give something 100%. Keep getting that rest, Rob. Don't overexert yourself until you feel like you have control of your life again.

@ghost-bc1fn5 жыл бұрын
Might that be a bit demeaning for Rob? He needs to heal too, mentally. He probably feels a little babied by corrine already (absolutely no hate on corrine, this is her healing process that she needs to go through) and adding a literal baby monitor on top of that probably wouldn't help in him feeling like everyone thinks he can never look after himself again. But that's purely speculation on my part, I'm not a therapist nor do I know them.
