"Man on the Silver Mountain" is an iconic Rainbow song with Dio on the vocals. However, I love this tune as well. Hard to go wrong with Ritchie Blackmore on guitar.

If you want to hear more Rainbow with Joe Lynn Turner, then check out "Eyes of Fire" from the same album. You're right about the radio, this was one of their biggest hits - along with "Since You've Been Gone"
@oswaldmontecristo1035Ай бұрын
Eyes Of Fire had that Middle Eastern sort of aura to it, a music style that Blackmore loved to borrow and be inspired from. It sounds like a theme song from the Nights of Arabia with its exotic beat and tempo

I'm here because, at first glance, thought it was a reaction to Queen's "Stone Cold Crazy" live at the Rainbow, lol.

One of the first big power ballads of the eighties. It dropped when I was in high school. It sounded pretty smooth coming over the FM rock radio. Still holds up well, I think. The success of the song created space for the band Whitesnake (also related to Deep Purple), and maybe even for Foreigner to keep with the power ballads as well, "I Want to Know What Love Is" and all that. The audio quality of this video is okay, but the organ runs sound a lot better coming off the radio or a disc or the vinyl representations. Rainbow enjoyed a hit a few years prior to this titled "Since You Been Gone" that's got a catchy hook. Check it out too.

Absolutely I would love to see more Rainbow (my favorite band) and Deep Purple. Rainbow went through several different eras. This era was the most commercial with this hit. The Dio years were just fantastic hard rock. Graham Bonnet and Doggie White eras were also very good. Check out the song "Ariel" from the Doogie years, very good.

This vocalist also appeared on the yngwie malmsteen albums "Odyssey" and "live in Leningrad". Would it be cool if you checked out "Heaven Tonight" from the album Odyssey. And "Dreaming" from Live in Leningrad. And if you're enjoying the magnificent guitar playing of yngwie malmsteen... Check out his songs: "Anguish and fear " "I'll see the light tonight" (official video) "You don't remember, I'll never forget"(official video) "Don't let it end" (one of my favorites)

Rainbow with Dio as lead singer is them at their hardest. Check out A Light in the Black and Gates of Babylon. Two great hard rockin' Rainbow songs with Dio
@DGSPhoto2 ай бұрын
Great song considering the direction they took. I'd strongly suggest you react to some tracks from the reincarnation of 1995 and their return to some Heavy Rock along with their fourth singer who, to me, was as close to Dio as you could get! There's a vast array of awesome live tracks from their 1995 Rockpalast concert in Dusseldorf, which are practically untouched by your counterparts! (Black Masquerade would be a great start - along with Hall of the Mountain King, Temple of the King, Ariel, Hunting Humans etc, etc). Great job! Keep 'em coming!

Why Ritchie Blackmore decided to go pop during this era is beyond me
@jalkabre59042 ай бұрын
Money, Ritchie wanted airplay and had to switch it up. He saw how Foreigner was getting popular with a ton of radio play. He wanted to switch. It's good, but you are right it does not compare to the Dio years.
@emerald18052 ай бұрын
He did interviews at the time saying he was tired of bands like Foreigner getting all the money from radio hits and decided to write some himself.
