Dal Makhani is my all time favourite comfort food! I usually cook a huge pot and portion it in preserving jars, keeping them in the fridge to have my Dal ready when coming home late from work. Also, my friends like to be gifted a couple of jars every now and then I make a fresh batch. Also, I love spicy Indian dishes - despite being a very potato-y German potato. I had my best Dal Makhani at the Denissons hotel in Hubli by the way. Thanks for bringing this beautiful dish into everyone else’s view. Lots of love from Germany. :)

I am flattered 🙏🏽 Truly though, nothing is too spicy for him. He once visited a Mexican restaurant that serves food on a spicy scale of 1-10, and for customers who order a 10 and finish their meal, they get their photo on the “wall of flame.” He and his sister who was visiting from India both ordered a 10. She couldn’t finish hers because it was too spicy so he ate his meal AND her meal and asked if he could have two photos of himself up on the wall 😂

That looks delicious! I’m going to start soaking my dal right now. I agree with your parents, there is nothing better than the layered flavor of well spiced, hot Indian food!! Thank you for all your GREAT recipes! 🌶 🥵 🙏
