Senior Management once asked the question during a quarterly review...."Where do you see yourself in 5 years? "With every possible option open to me ..,I replied...., "I Hope to see myself in a mirror" It was only after he said to GTF out of his office..., it dawned on me..., that wasn't the answer he was looking for..... Sometimes the story is more focused on the journey rather than the destination. Good luck young Troy in all your endeavors

When I stopped by to pick up my car a few weeks ago, I pulled in and Troy was working on cleaning the wheels up on my car. I said "Hi, Troy!" like it was nothing, but then it hit me about how weird that must be to have total ransdos just saying 'hi' like you're old friends. So I asked him if it was, in fact, that weird. He was super cool about it. Best of luck to you, Troy. You certainly seem like a cool dude.

Ray, I commend you for filling us in on Troy's departure. I had sensed his irregular absences and wondered what was afoot. Your comments about him showed respect for him, and you've shown yourself to be a great boss. And this for Troy: I think you learned a lot in your time with Ray, and you will have to search hard to find another boss down the road who will give you as much independence, mentoring, levity and respect as Ray has done. Good luck in your future endeavors.

You gave Troy an opportunity with a learning experience to pursure his own endeavors. Mr Gordon who ran a mobile automotive repair and was a retired MSGT for the US Army took me under his wing and taught me alot in the 2 months I worked with him. I didn't get paid much but the experience was golden and set me on a path of enlisting in the US Army and becoming a Bradley mechanic and then re-uped to become a Hawk weapon systems repair tech.

I usually hesitate to give advice to an experienced auto mechanic who has much more experince than I, but I'm old, so if it will help, here it is. Back in the day when I maintained my own vehicles, and had no power tools to work with, I used only a vice to R&R u-joints. I would cut a piece of pipe large enough to go over one cup, and use a 3/4" socket to push from the other side. I would put all that between the vice jaws, and just squeeze them together using the vice itself, no special tools needed. The same operation works for both removal and install, except the pipe isn't needed on the install. I've probably done dozen that way over the years and it worked fine every time. As I said I'm not an auto mechanic, but I am a retired USAF jet fighter mechanic.

Little late here, don't often comment, but Ray's positivity wears off on me and is a large part of why I love coming back to this channel to watch! I wish Troy all the best and am touched by how much respect was shown both ways. Had a similar moment in my life, unsure of how similar and I respect Troy's privacy enough to not need to know, but sometimes you gotta set off on your own and do what you need to do. It's not always easy, and I hope Troy finds what he's looking for and has all the success he's due with whatever he decides is best for him! I know he has it in him to make his life what he wants it to be so as sad as I am to see him go, I have nothing but respect and hope for him and his bright future.

I'm glad for the long form videos. Ignore the haters. I like the fact that Ray takes the time to not only explain what he's doing, but also why he's doing things a certain way. I also like the fact that he leaves in the stuff that doesn't work, and explains a change in tactics. It's both informative and entertaining. It's also nice to see someone run into the same challenges and mistakes that I have encountered myself. It's just too bad you don't earn a commission for amazon links to DeWalt tools.

I do like that Ray shows everything, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am not a mechanic, he shows me the things I can DIY and things best left to you pros. As for Troy, I worked for the same employer for over forty years. I am the exception and not the rule. I always told new people that hey it's not for everybody. If you get here and you find a better thing, more power to you. Several actually left us and went to medical school, I'm proud of them. One of them was my doctor for awhile then he moved on from this 8 to 5 clinic to work in an ER, I don't get that, but ok. Another left us for the Air Force, maybe flying military aircraft is more exciting than what we do, I get it, and a lot of places pay better. I say all of this to say, you are young, go find your place. My granddaughter was born with a serious heart defect. We forgot to tell her what she couldn't do. I said baby girl spread your wings and fly. Last year she played on a boys' football team. Her doctors approved it. So Troy spread your wings and fly.

Ray thanks for filling us in why Troy has been absent. It is really good both of you went your separate ways on good terms. Ray you always have a way of explaining why you are doing a repair and you explain the repair in depth. Troy I wish you the best of luck in your new path in life. May you find what you are looking for.

even after commenting yourself to ensure to place the Zurk Fitting (grease nipple) facing inward, you still manage to mess it up 56:42 and install it backwards on 1 side . . . . slow clap !!

something Ray has learned - and it is very very important - is to monitor and know your state. he talks about indications of " fatigue . " this is very important - just like recognizing our other states - " i feel good " " i am angry " etc etc.. these are " moods " that come and go and our decisions under their influence - and our world view - change drastically.

34:00 Sending positive vibrations Troy's way. It can be scary going out on your own, especially in today's world but I'm confident he'll find his way, just as Ray did and many of us over the years, trying to climb out from somebody else's shadow.

I was taught, with U-joints, you take the new caps, fill them with grease, install making sure that the new grease fitting is not installed. As you install each cap, the entire U-joint gets "greased" and all you have to do is install the grease fitting. Saves a lot of headaches and no lost needles. Sometimes, one must spread their own wings and do what they must do for themselves, best of luck to you Troy. Great video, cheers :)

Good Luck Troy. Watching this series make me glad I do my own maintenance. As every oil change I grease the fittings. It seems many places don't when get the work done elsewhere. Not sure what this would cost but I am sure it is cheaper to grease them.
