As a father one thing I have learned is that especially as a man that if what I do only serves me and it negatively impacts my family then I won't enjoy it. If I have to do something I might not want but in turn I get smiles, laughs and joy from my kids and wife then everything else disappears and I am lit up inside by others joy. I do like my own joy but nothing compares to seeing my family truly happy and joyful.

It is so sad that we have to ask a monk in India what the meaning of life is, when the answer is right here in the West, in front of very eyes. The meaning of life is Love (aka Jesus) and our purpose in life is to love what is highest (Him) AND our neighbour.
