Pro tip. When you get the plunger in and are applying pressure go on the inside take a lighter and apply a little heat to the spot. This will cause the resin to suck into the cracks. I had a professional glass repair person tell me that. I did it with mine and it worked great. Thanks for the video.

I did my repair on a cool (55°F) but sunny day and here’s a tip that helped me: I cleaned the windshield with rubbing alcohol, then left the car in the sun for 30 minutes to make sure the alcohol evaporated and to heat the windshield up a bit. I then moved the car out of the sun into the carport and did the repair per the instructions. As I slowly turned the pressure driver, I watched from inside the car as the resin seeped into all the little cracks and crevices of the damaged area. I think pre-heating the windshield helped the resin flow easier.

Great video. Repaired a chip in my windshield this morning that I had been quoted $109 for by the local Safelite glass repair company. Was told each subsequent repair would "only be $26.00" $11 for the kit from the local auto parts store and 30 minutes later - chip repaired.
@Jooeffoh5 жыл бұрын
Well done mate. Best video i've seen of anyone using this kit and your further applications by hand show the damage can be improved even more. I'm in the middle of repairing mine right now and just waiting on the 1st curing process! Edit: I noticed that after applying the drops into the pressure screw thing, if i tapped behind it on the inside of the windscreen continually, with the ends of my fingers, the resin spread throughout the tiny cracks that were coming off the initial chip. The more I tapped the better the resin spread within them. My chip has been sitting there for at least 6 months so it would have been better if I had done it earlier, but it has turned out perfect!

Just to say thanks for the video. With admirable determination I've waded through a whole selection of videos on repairing cracks on windscreens using Rainx and have shown considerable maturity and restraint by not leaving comments on most of them. Thanks for the video! Mine got chipped last week and I had to wait for a sunny day before attempting to repair this myself. Unfortunately its not warm out though so it may take longer for the resin to setup. I'll have to use a lighter from the I side I'm sure to make sure the resin is getting sucked into the cracks. Thanks once again.
@chrispatriot3 жыл бұрын
Another Pro tip - "don't twist off the round ball on top of the resin... :) There's actually enough there to do at least 3 to 4 jobs. What I do is simply unscrew the top of the bottle and add the drops then quickly put it back on to save the ample supply given, for another round.... After this is done, you simply wash the plunger piece with break cleaner/carb cleaner and that resin breaks right up. Then once complete, soak the plunger piece in soapy warm water for about an hour, so that it gets rid of the break cleaner/carb cleaner chemicals and leaves the rubber supple, so it can be used again.. ;)

top tip: when travelling behind bulk haulage (tipper) trucks, leave a good 30 meters. When I drove tippers and was paid by the load, it was always a quick sweep of the back door plate and any excess stone just fell off onto the road (then bounces up onto following cars windscreen) on the way to the next job ;)
