This was one of the best we've simplest videos I've watched. I was looking for something with a little less work, but if i ever up going this route it'll definitely come in handy. Mine is only off by about half an inch and I'm really not excited about moving it completely. Id likely have to remove the backsplash to do it.

Thanks for watching. Yes if you are fighting with a tile back splash it will be worse.

Thanks for the informative video! Typically for this job I would use an oscillator to cut a large hole to the opposing stud to give me enough room to pry out the old box and nail it back in... But your solution looks to be much cleaner by cutting as small a hole as possible using only a utility knife, then installing a new box. A smaller hole also means less mudding and painting afterwards. Exactly what I was looking for, and what I'm going to try next!

Why is there no label stating GCFI outlet? Code violation without the label.

It's coming from the laundry room gfci on the other side of the wall. It functions exactly as it should. They outlet boxes come with little stickers I think, but what's actually important is that it's a gfci protected outlet. 30 plus year old houses aren't built to modern codes

Wish you would have discussed/showed more about the actual electrical outlet, where each wire goes and how wires were threaded and connected. Seems like the actual electrical part of your video, connectijg ground wire, etc...you zoomed through so fast. And how did you know wires were coming from top or side over before you took old box out? Seems like you wouldn't know until that old box was out. Thanks for posting, overall a short, simple tutorial!

I didnt know which way the wires were going in advance. I just got lucky this time. I dont show a lot of wiring because every country has different standards and houses can also be wired differently if they are older based on old codes. Here the black wire was hot and went into the hot side of the outlet. The white wire was neutral and went in the opposite side. Then the bare wire was the ground wire and connected to the device box and to the ground bolt on the outlet.

Nice job, did you get any cracking without using tape?
