The EQS is a new sedan from Mercedes Benz. On the outside of the 450+ you will find unique wheels, full LED lighting, panoramic roof and lift back design. Powering this EV are (2) electric motors. Is the 2024 Mercedes Benz EQS 450+ a BETTER luxury sedan than a Lucid Air?

People with money don’t care for the price. It’s the fact that it ONLY can be repaired at the dealership and many Mercedes places don’t have qualified mechanics to service these. NYC NJ are a great example of NO QUALIFIED MECHANICS/Technicians for the volume of work that comes in on a daily basis.

Here is a rare instance where a Mercedes-Benz product doesn't even remotely compare to the competition. The EQS is a first generation product and Mercedes almost always struggles with first generation products. The EQS is a just plain ugly and then it's years behind the Lucid in tech, range, etc. No contest.

I know that most flagship sedans are around 196 inches long but most discontinued full sized sedans are a few inches longer and the EQS sedan is 207.3 inches long, I think most flagship sedans should around the length of the EQS sedan

Drove one of these as a loaner when I took my E450 in for service. It was REALLY impressive. Loved the sportback too. There are some amazing deals on this now, so if you have the $ and want an EV, it’s a good choice.

It's better looking than a Tesla or the other EV's. And all things considered, the price is not "shocking". A Jeep Grand Wagoneer is well over $100K, after all. But, I'd still rather have an ICE, or a hybrid as a compromise. But kudos to the stylists for making it look like a classy car, and the engineers for making it a classy car worth a damn.

It’s one of the worst looking EVs in its segment. Objectively the Taycan, E-tron GT, Lucid and I-5 all look significantly better. Where the Mercedes might win is comfort and luxury.

352 EV miles is actually about ≈225 EV miles which is about ≈360 km range. The winter cold. ∴ Do not get EV’s in colder climates.

honestly this is a tough choice Joe I love Mercedes overall they're styling and design from bumper to diffuser but the price is just so up there compared to the Lucid, not only that id much rather have the design of the Lucid exterior wise. Id totally pick a normal E-Klasse over the Lucid or at least it would make the choice even harder but I'm gonna go with the Lucid ! its just so intuitive and unique in most aspects and for the price its a steal. I also wanted to ask if you could show the power folding mirrors of future cars like you did this one its one of my favorite features and love to make sure cars Im looking at buying have!

Absolutely not. The Lucid is much more thought out, the packaging is so much better. Lucid has thought about the best use of all the space. Mercedes you can't even get a frunk with all of that. It's one of the main advantages is to have the frunk space and they messed that up. It's not just that but styling, the Lucid is way ahead. Great video, Joe. It's good to see some non-vintage cars on here.

Lucid is a great car so much so I was this close to buying one. But they have no extended warranty. Ehhh. Lease at the most for the Lucid. Mercs EVs have really top notch interiors. But they’re all butterfaces.

I own both an EV and a gas car, and EVs are great, once you drive EVs, it's hard going back to gas cars, but there's still lots of issues with EVs such as charging time and resale value. Until we move into graphene battery or something else that replaces Lithium for faster charge time and lower battery cost, then we could see a rise in EV resale value as well as customer consumption.

Just got a Lucid. It was down to the EQS and Lucid because of the range. The EQS has a face only a mother can love. That was the deciding factor, that was it. When you spending at this level look is mostly the deciding factor. We all can agree Mercedes EV are ugly. Porches , Audi and Lucid can make good looking EV. I don’t know why Mercedes can’t.

To be honest, the car looks like a Honda Civic. The only difference is that the interior is made of leather, wood, and advanced technology. You are actually paying for the technology, which is why it’s expensive. Technology evolves every six months, so I think the car will decrease in value quickly over the next few years.
