Is the 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio a performance SUV worth the PRICE?

The Stelvio Quadrifoglio is Alfa Romeo's answer to the BMW X4 M, Mercedes AMG GLC 63, and Maserati Levante Trofeo. Under the hood is a 2.9L twin-turbo V6 pumping out 505HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will fiund unique Italian style, LED lighting and forged wheels. Does it bring enough performance for the price? Absolutely. There isn't many (or any) that compare performance for dollar to the Stelvio Quadrifoglio*. Porsche and BMW will cross into the $100k range to match quickness but none have the feeling of an Alfa Romeo - one of the true driver's vehicles on the market today. And the Stelvio doesn't get lost in the crowd like a Porsche and BMW. *We've had a Stelvio Quadrifoglio as a daily driver since 2018. Keep up the great reviews Raiti!

Amen. I finally got one and boy it does not disappoint. I'm 6' 2" and it is so comfortable. It feels like driving an ultra hot-hatch, not an SUV. It's so much fun. Can't believe you don't see more Alfas on the road. When people who know what it is see it, you'll always get a callout. I picked up mine used for $60k with 19 months of warranty left. For reference that is $4k more than a Kia Stinger GT2. Haha

@@mlee9049 No complaints. Yes a few growing pains but nothing that would prevent us from recommending Alfa Romeo. (In fact, we'd had more electrical gremlins with our 2019 Honda Passport than the Stelvio.)

The Stelvio QV is an awesome SUV. It handles like none other and it's the best car purchase I've ever made. Every drive is exciting. The technology "deficiencies" are ones that most of us enthusiasts don't mind. I'd rather have the performance over anything else. In this price range, I don't think there's anything better. I love my Alfa Quad Stelvio and its analog guages. Personally, I don't mind the rearview camera and dash panel display size. When you are driving this car, you're driving THIS CAR. It's amazing brothas. I would take this over a Krautmobile any day.

You buy this Stelvio QV simply because it offers the best driving experience, and full of passion and soul. Sure it lacks some of the comforts and options that others offer, but nobody else offers the ride this gives you and that's hard to compete with. Alfa reliability? It's just as good if not better than its competition, I know first hand for the last few years, no issues! Great Review on a Great Beast!!

Very compelling review, as usual, Mr. Raiti. Well-described. I owned a '90 Alfa Spider Veloce for the first decade of this century. Loved it, but it took patience. Strange things would happen, such as the inside door handle falling off or the seat sliding back on the rails without catching while you're driving. Don't get me started on the mechanical issues. But my memories of driving up and down the Pacific Coast Highway with a special lady and a couple of Slurpees will last forever. Here's why I recently chose another performance SUV over a new Stelvio: it's very hard to get these mofos repaired. Many, if not most, US dealers have gone out of business. You might end up driving 300 miles to get it fixed, as people are describing doing. There are also scores of comments online about problematic electrical issues, among other quirky problems, and complaints about warranties that aren't necessarily honored the way they should be. Maybe the 2021 model is better with its handful of revisions. Do your research. It's certainly a blast to drive, even without the Quadrifoglio package. The best thing is, fantastic deals can be had on this gorgeous car.

A lot of electrical issues have been due to bad batteries. So, it's not due to bad design, which is a good thing. People freak out because it causes the car to light up with CELs and other warnings. A new quality battery solves most electrical issues people have had. I'm on my 3rd one now (a QV finally) with no issues after 60K + miles. Best driver's SUV out there. If you want luxury look elsewhere, although it has enough of that for those mostly focused on driving.

I’m surprised these don’t sell well where I live. I think they’re really good looking. I work across an Alfa dealer and they still have a lot of 2021s on their lot. Meanwhile the nearby Audi dealer is on their last 2 2021 Q5s and the GLC is the most popular by far.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk,a cousin to the Alfa-Romeo is comparably price,but also features that 6.2 L supercharged V8,which generates 707 hp and 645 lb-ft of torque. It is certainly not as refined as the Alfa,and probably doesn't put the power down as well but it's hilariously insane. 😳 Tough call....

For being twin turbo'ed, it still revs to 6500rpm and holds its torque almost all the way to the top. That's really impressive, granted it's a ferrari engine at heart so it'll fall apart if ever driven hard. For reference the actual V8 version in maserati doesn't hold its torque as well as the revs climb, and the ferrari version really compensates hard for lost torque with about 1000 more rpms available
