Is the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro SS a BETTER convertible Muscle Car than a Mustang GT?

The Camaro is soon to be out of production but Chevrolet still has plenty of power to still offer. Under the hood is a 6.2L V8 churning out 455HP & mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. On the outside you will discover 20in wheels, hood heat extractor, and active exhaust. On the inside you will be greeted by leather seating and an 8in infotainment screen. So lucky i got my 2023 rapid blue 2SS shock and Steel edition. Especially for MSRP in NJ for $51k with sunroof and dual mode exhaust. Unfortunately it’s a 10 speed but those those insanely fast European super car shifts and pops in between are absolutely intoxicating to hear on a NA V8. 🤤

As someone who’s ONLY owned Camaro’s my entire adult life, it’s a sad situation to see it go, but to think the Camaro could FINALLY be designed as a true/legitimate sports car is wonderful! Never thought I’d say that when I first drove a 82’ V6 with terrible/death trap suspension!😳 Next, I’ve driven several super cars and exotics, and this platform with SS1LE track pack w/6-speed manual is amazingly competitive and shocking for the price! Just made me regret even more for selling my 2017 2ss Camaro convertible with the tremec manual and only 29k miles and I took an 8k loss selling it just because I didn't drive it enough. Now I need to get another one to park next to my new Silverado and my wife Chevy. I guess I might as well upgrade to the ZL1. I had full carbon fiber all inside my 2ss too

I ordered a '23 LT1 convert. Rapid Blue, 6M, Bose, NPP, Recaros, carbon front splitter. Added some ZL1-sized HRE wheels and tires and spent about $50k for everything. I have a modified 911 Turbo, but I really enjoy driving this car especially with the top down. The 6-speed convertible is something that needs to be experienced.

Yes it is. It has a better chassis architecture than the mustang and its lighter. The visibility problem is gone. And its also cheaper than putting the LS motor in an MX-5.

It is, I own one! It's a great performance car, comfortable, cheap to run and it holds plenty of cargo. I sprang for the Wild Cherry Tintcoat paint and get compliments all the time from people who drive much more expensive cars. The only downside of the 4 cylinder is that it's rough right off the line, but once you're rolling the engine is smooth and fast with a subtle growl. And the 4 cylinder saves weight, which helps with handling and braking. I'm getting about 530 miles of range on highway trips.

@@NinoagoFan88 In mixed driving about 27.5 mpg. On the highway I can get 28.5 with cruise control on a flat road @ 75 mph. I don't do a lot of local, around town driving because that job goes to my Jeep Wrangler. It would depend on how hard you drive it, but I may be getting 23 mpg around town. You need to run premium fuel. My favorite thing about the fuel economy is the range. After driving from eastern Pennsylvania to Killington, Vermont, and then the next morning to the border of New Hampshire, I still had 1/4 tank. It's the best road trip car I've ever owned.

These convertibles need windscreens. They work great at speed. I used to be able to wear a cap with top down and windscreen and no problem at 75mph+.

The Camaro proved to be a legitimate nemesis for the Mustang over the decades. Specifically the late 60’s was def Camaro’s time in the sun. Was cleaning up on the race circuit so much Ford had to go design the Boss 302 to snatch the crown back. Even though the Camaro hasn’t had as much success and has been suckin’ high tit when compared to the Mustang since 2000 forward, outside of a couple resurgent years after the Transformers movie, it’s going to be missed by the entire Pony/Muscle/Performance car community. The Camaro’s final ride into the sunset, this time, is definitive…
