Generating power at 2:20 I forgot to point out to use your right arm. You should kinda push it down as you swing your left leg up. You can see it from the video 😅 Also, I didn't tell how to progress into gumbi but basically practise these things that I show at 1:37 and start turning your (darkside) cartwheel from that setup or the carrythrough setup more and more into the arched version. No need to go for the final version straight up. Ease into it! My raiz is not textbook but it works and looks good. You can spot similarly like in gumbi if you feel like that works for you better. Personally that technique doesn't feel good and strong to me.

This is the one way to do it, the other one how fuju does it in his tutorial. This difference in technique reflects when you see the tdrs of these people. They never lead their centre of gravity towards the right arm, its always on the left one, which is going to the right side. That's why their hands perfectly align with their foot placements while in the other technique the left arm lands left from the right foot
@johzuke15 жыл бұрын
You are right. My gumbi and raiz could be done in more straight line. This is just my way of doing it and I'm happy how they look and how well they work for me.

But why do some gumbis look like cartwheels? This one looks very similar to a round off

@@skillazj5692 exactly because of what I just said, it's a weight balance thing, write me on insta it's easier to explain with examples there! @jorrit_trickz
@johzuke15 жыл бұрын
@@skillazj5692 It's due to how you place the left rm when reaching ground with it. If you do it correctly you can see a nice bend. Watch my TrickScience ep. 2 where I explain it!

@@jorrit_trickz out of curiousity i tried doing a gumbi today and would you believe i did it perfectly mines more of a cartwheel style gumbi and the arch was excellent how i figured it out is it all depends on how you kick your leg

Your raiz is pretty solid but it is bit unusual. Spotting should be the same in both gumbi and raiz. You are losing sight of the ground because of your technique which is not textbook, but it works nonetheless. Just a note for those who are watching this tutorial :)
@johzuke15 жыл бұрын
Yeah like I mentioned, works for me and looks good. I feel like if I would spot the ground like I gumbi I would have so much more problems getting height and getting around and land chest up.

I was actually hesitating on making the tutorial since I know my technique is not textbook. I still decided to do it since my raiz is the trick I get most compliments for 😅

First: Thx for putting your effort into creating the tutorial. :) Second: Well it's only a good tutorial if you can already do a Gumbi. But I want to know some prerequisites for the Gumbi. How do you get so flexibel in the back? You are turning 180° with your back. And how do I remove my fear falling on my head? Because you swing your left arm back over your head. Any pre exercises for that?
@johzuke15 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for the feedback! Haven't done many tutorials. Did you check the 1:38 part? That's basically the key part for gumbi. Arm motion and swinging the leg from that setup and how to place the arms.
@johzuke15 жыл бұрын
Basically there is nothing more to it. I'm really not flexible in my back. Can't even do the bridge properly. Still I can do the gumbi because I have done so many reps of it. Just start turning the cartwheel into gumbi little by little. Check out my TrickScience ep. 2. It may help you a bunch!
@Ivan.20005 жыл бұрын
@@johzuke1 Yes i saw it. So do you mean that arm swinging will also improve my back flexibility? And will bridge and dark side cartwheel help to get over the fear? Or are there better exercises. Like I am not afraid of doing dark side cartwheel, but swinging my arm over head and turning my back. It feels weird and scary. I hope you understand what I mean.
@johzuke15 жыл бұрын
@@Ivan.2000 Yeah I get it and no arm swinging won't help with back flexibility but it will put you at a better position for making your darkside cartwheel more gumbi'ish. Little by little place the hand more and more to the right place. No need to go straight into the gumbi if it feels scary. You can simply progress into it.
