Operation Downfall… Allied Commanders estimated: - Over 1 million Allied casualties, some even estimated up to 2-3 million. - Nearly a third of the entire Japanese populations becoming casualties (both military and civilians, including effects from starvation, disease, exposure, guerrilla warfare, crime (civil/war), fanatical political/military enforcement, and getting caught in the crossfire). - It would take over a year (at minimum) to fully secure the Japanese Mainland by military force. - Extremely high-risk of prolonged Japanese Underground Resistance. Even within territory completely void of the Imperial Military. - Extreme chances of not being efficient to aid all refugees and prisoners of war. - Economic Recovery/Reconstruction after hostilities would be very long and difficult.

There only would have been widespread resistance in the first few months or years. I'm 16:34 into this video as I type this. I had to pause it and say this video is epic. You've accomplished what Hollywood WWII movies strive for. It's total anarchy. Explosions, non-stop gunfire, yelling. I loved the wide shots you used to show the size of the battle. And the fact that this game keeps the destroyed tanks and dead soldiers on-screen gives it a more realistic feel. Not a lot of games keep that stuff around. They disappear after a few seconds. Anyways, fantastic video. Very entertaining 🇺🇸

This reminds me of an alternate WW2 book I read years ago. It's called 1945 by the late Robert Conroy, a US Army veteran and history teacher. Basically, after Hiroshima and Nagasaki we're nuked a military coup happened at the Japanese imperial palace and the emperor was put up as a puppet leader by extremist in the military like Tojo. In reality l, the military coup failed to breach the inner palace walls before the military police and infantry units (still loyal to the emperor) arrived and crushed the coup.

I think the game server had a hiccup since the sausage eaters had unconditionally surrendered on May 7, 1945. But aside from that glitch, this was an awesome video! So much history went into this. What most people didn't know was that after the Emperor surrendered on August 15, renegade troops tried to overthrow the government and keep fighting. Had they succeeded, the invasion of Japan would have gone forward, despite the A-bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. One other point. In 1945 the word "nuke" did not yet exist. A-bomb was the word of the day.

Just for a sense of scale: the War Department ordered so many Purple Hearts be minted for this operation that we have yet to run out of them. _Half a million_ wounded were expected.

Wonder why they didn't consider creating the American foreign legion & recruiting an army from places like china Vietnam & the Philippines to prepare for this
@TheLAGopher2 жыл бұрын
@@SlashinatorZ The US Army wanted Downfall to be as American an operation as possible. They wanted to place Japan under American occupation,not allied occupation like Germany. The British,Australians, Canadians, and Indians,all wanted to larger role in the ground invasion and were prepared to send a Commonwealth Army Group to serve under US command, but MacArthur wouldn't go for it. The plans before the invasion was called off called for a commomwealth Corps made of one Australian division,one British division, and one Canadian division under a British general. The Indians were left off with MacArthr saying there were too many issues coordinating with them. Maybe that would have changed had the invasion actually happened.As it was, the British,Australians, and Canadians were able to contribute their air and naval forces in mass because the US Navy and Army Air Force didnt have the same problems accepting help the way the US Army did.

Bro to be honest, this was not that great compared to your Japanese invasion of America video. But as always, the way you make the battle scenes is a work of art.

The Japanese invasion of America had a bit more creative freedom but stating it was better from cinematic, quality, performance, map, and storyline perspective, makes no sense. There's not a thing, that this video doesn't do better

Saw the Chi-to tank, suicide boats, and onka rocket suicide plane give some realistic action, but will be better consider strategy scenario like iwo-jima defense, and in terms of infantry consider the use of submachine gun type-100, at least for the main defense, others weapons like a japanese copy of semi automatic rifle M1, reaction planes would be consider at least as recognize the battlefield, but however it was a good simulation.
