meanwhile, people fighting for a deck that consistently just gets to thoughtsieze you twice and gets a free 4/3 body that puts you on a very fast clock and saying the deck is ok but having to play magical Christmas land of having the exact set of cards, like he needed like 4 different cards all to show us in a very specific order where as scam only needs 2 and has multiple copies of the same thing, i don't see what was so broken about doing something that will only happen like once every like 100 games
@blueplayer6197
@blueplayer6197 11 ай бұрын
@@lifeiaskedfor It's not one in every 100 games, consider game 2, 2 thoughtseizes and a blood moon couldn't stop the 12 post but more importantly without the blood moon that Ulamog would have been hard cast, if you don't get what's broken about it well just understand scam is probably the worst matchup for 12 post because it needs to get lands out early with a bit of ramp and then it's built to top deck amazingly. You unban it and it starts using the tools modern tron is using, much better ramp, much better resilience, an actual sideboard and better threats on the low end (thoughtknot, matter reshaper, just having board presence would make this much harder on scam)

@@Necroskull388 12-Post is probably the *most* inevitable deck that's ever been in modern. Once they hit 6 mana it usually doesn't matter if you Blood Moon them or something. @@CardmarketMagic@Carl may I ask you a question? Why did you decide to cast Dismember on Thoralf's end step, instead of waiting until your turn? If you ended up drawing a creature, like you did, then as you explained you wouldn't need to cast Dismember and lower your life total. But if you didn't draw a creature, then wouldn't you definitely have the spare mana to cast the Dismember on your turn, after you knew you needed to cast it?

@joedoe7572 that's what my interview portion was about. I just didn't explain it in the best way 😅 I needed to draw a creature and, although Primeval Titan and Ulamog also won the game, I needed to play dismember there in case I drew an explore into a creature or if I needed to get an eye of ugin to tutor a creature, but it was redundant life loss in case I drew an eldrazi Titan or if I got a primeval Titan that was destroyed with a terminate :)

@egoalter1276

12 posts weakness is hand disruption. It has no draw, and it needs scaleshift or titan to tutor up the posts, and still needs a threat or an eye of ugin after that to make use of its mana. Also, while you *can* scapeshift on turn 2 or titan on turn 3, you need perfect ramp to do either. Which means you need 4 separate cards in your starti g ha d and first 2 draws to actually pop off. Now, vranted, sou run 8-8-8 copies of 3 of those 4, and 12 of the last one, but if you dont get it in those first 9 cards, or get it thoughtsiezed, force of negationed, you are at the mercy of the topdeck. Which is probably why the deck didnt take over legacy.

Game 2 is a great example of why Blood Moon is like a Fog effect vs a deck that has lands tapping for multiple mana (Cloudpost, Tron, Shops in Vintage, etc). The opponent can always draw more lands and play them, so you really need something to make use of the time that Blood Moon gives you. If you don't have that, the opponent will draw into their bigger threats and Just Win. Love this series!

Without watching ahead of reading comments, if any deck in this tourney can beat Scam, its 12Post. Very excited for this video

What a match!! I was rooting for 12-post, but it's impossible to deny how cool rakdos scam is in it's design. Both of these decks are just such great examples of how awesomely complex magic deckbuilding and strategy is!

Everyone's talking about the ending but tbh my favorite part was Carl Beast Within-ing his *own permanent* to get a blocker out of it because he knew that the immediate beater would win him the game over the bajillion mana

When I first started playing magic the Rise of the Eldrazi had just been released. I immediately fell in love with the idea of ramping out these massive creatures with these crazy abilities. It was so fun and they have always been my favorite. I knew it was a long shot but I hoped for both 12 Post and Eldrazi Winter would put up a good showing in this tournament. Now, no matter which deck wins the finals, I will be happy. 😊 Another great video guys, love the channel! ❤

This was such an amazing match. I love how you guys always break down the hard decisions. It’s very educational to see how high level players approach these moments. I think that high level decision making is what separates pro players from bums like me.
