I was in LA working a job. One of the guys on the Job was talking about how people in other states would carry a gun and how barbaric that was. A few days later we were fueling the trucks and these two guys came around the side of the dump truck. One had a bat and the other had a knife. They were unaware that I was in the truck. I gave them a second to see how the anti gun guy would handle the situation. Well he put his hands up and said I don't want any trouble. The thing is, trouble wanted him. When I dropped out the truck with my 9 pointed at their heads, they changed their minds really quick. After they ran off, the anti gun guy says to me. You can't have that in LA. That's when I realized that people have been reduced to prey. The crazy thing is, they have accepted it.

I don't think people want to live in a place where carrying a gun is needed or encouraged. Like in an ideal world, I definitely wouldn't want anyone standing next to me carrying a weapon that could easily kill multiple people in the area in a moments notice. That personally doesn't make me feel safe despite knowing it could come in handy if other threats were to emerge. It's a hard thing to think about and conceptualize, at least for me. That said, we live in a dangerous society. The police can be unreliable and violence has only gone up over the years. Regardless of how practical it is to have one for personal safety, just the need for it alone is hard to come to terms with. No one wants to admit their society is this broken or that they're in constant danger...just sucks man. I've definitely thought about learning to shoot for my safety, but it just goes against who I am as a person, very nonviolent. I'd never want to hurt anyone, and carrying a tool that had been made with that specific purpose just feels really wrong. Especially when folks on the other side of the spectrum can get trigger happy and discharge their weapons when the situation really doesn't call for it. My life could be in danger because I was running in a neighborhood or happened to pull into the wrong driveway. Who knows, maybe I'll get it over it and arm myself. I think it might just be inevitable... He definitely should have thanked you though lol, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.*

I remember when i was 18 here in Texas i was working at Albertsons and my store manager was showing me his new AR-15 he just got in the back of his truck in broad daylight with customers watching. All of that kind of stuff seemed normal to me until i went to New York one week on vacation and i told them all my gun and gun range stories.

If you get pulled over, a common saying with cops in Texas after telling them you are armed is, “Don’t reach for yours and I wont reach for mine”.

True. All true! 😅🤣😂 (I spent my formative years growing up at the tip of Texas next to a 5ac rattlesnake patch! Brownsville/Matamoros. A totally different world. Then a Volkswagen bus with “California or BUST” on the side and I became a city girl. Now I can enjoy the best of both worlds.) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

May be because it takes the similar amount of time to fly from Dallas to NY as to fly from Paris to Istanbul.

I don't think you realize just how large the United states is. Just traveling to another city in the state your in can take hours.

In Texas, traveling means going to another part of Texas. El Paso to Galveston is like an 11hr drive.

That's because each of the 50 states are their own country. We forget that. There should be passport rules for interstate travel. USA is just like EU for European countries.
