Ram Air Intake, Does it Work? More Power, Faster Acceleration? Easy Mod? (C1/107/Aygo/CityBug)

Fitted a ram air intake to the C1 and compared to the factory airbox.
Compared acceleration and MAP reading as accurate and scientifically as my ability allowed.
Surprising results?

great video! i live in new york, 46, and alot of older american cars used to have ram air induction. typically, this mod was used in carburated engines, adding more air, causing a slight increase in power. i used to own a 79 el camino with a 350 4bolt v8 engine that i put a ram air kit on. the hp gain was......somewhat noticeable. later, i purchased an 83 chevy citation x11, which had a factory cowl induction system on a 2.8 litre v6, and that was surprisingly good. imo humble opinion, i dont think its worth carving a hole in the hood, or bonnet as its referred to in your area. im happy to see someone actually field test this, tho! dropped a sub!

You get some cool cars over there. A lot of bikes have it but not many cars over here. I work on bikes, and the ones with ram air on carbs have to have little air pipes coming from the ram air pressurised area into the cab vents to offset the pressure increase and keep the differential the there. I’m assuming carb cars had the same? Thanks for the comment

So it does make a difference, maybe a cleaner installation of the ram air kit would capture more air and improve the boost a little more. Cutting a hole in the bonnet is a bit serious, I'd have to work it into the front grill somehow. Anyway McLaren are sure to be interested in this piece of kit. Thanks again.

If you Google 6500FJ it says it's a safety fuse under the fuse box. If this fuse is blown the car is completely dead as it communates with the battery

@@tamlindias8942 ah right. The main fuse to the fuse box itself. Never had to change one on one of these. A lot of cars they are on the battery terminal, others they are on the main feed into the fuse box. Never looked at where it is on one of these tbh, but I’ve just read that it’s on the underside of the engine bay fuse box.

That's why I was asking was hoping you'd have some knowledge on how to do that. But I'll figure it out. You gave me enough confidence to do it myself.

Hi love your channel, wondering if there is a device that I can plug into the ODB2 socket that can pull the MPG Instant and long term Miles to empty etc assuming the vehicle accepts this. Is a C1, obviously 2011 VTR+. Also I'm guessing aftermarket cruise control can only be obtained for the 2014 onwards models with the speed limiter. Cheers for any thoughts 👍

Any noob knows that with modern cars, performance modifications will require a remap to get the most out of them. Get it done and you will see a solid 25 BHP gain out of this.

Being a closed loop injection system the car will trim the fuel to compensate for the extra air, but yes to get the most out of mods a map is usually best way. This car has already been mapped and has bigger injectors and other mods anyway. There are videos showing them and their effects. You would infact have a wind turbine, not a turbo. The induction would suck the fan faster than the motor could spin it, turning it into, well basically an alternator.

I’ve improved the performance of my daughters 107 this afternoon by removing all rubbish from footwells, vacuuming, polishing the inside and washing the outside.
