We just bought a 2023 Audi Q7 and using your website helped me research, providing me with relevant information I used when dealing with the sales person. It was funny when I said no to a $10 fee they had on the initial paperwork...The sales person looked at me like I was crazy. I literally flipped the script on him and became the sales person, selling MY numbers to him and his manager. Also, took our trade to Carmax first, got a very generous offer, which I then took to the dealer, handed it to them and they matched it. I used everything in my negotiations...Days on lot, selling price history (told them that they'd discounted the car $500 every two weeks and I built in a $1k discount to their asking price so they could sell it that day and not have to wait for me to come back in a month to get the deal I was offering them today), and even discussed their floor plan costs, building that into my discounted price. YOUR INFORMATION WAS INVALUABLE AND I'M SO GLAD I FOUND YOU GUYS! Thanks again!

I look at the prices for new vehicles and I am convinced I will never own a new vehicle again. Not because I can't afford it, because I don't see the value at those prices. It's crazy to see cars/trucks/SUV's going for 50k and up. And that isn't even for a luxury vehicle. I'll keep maintaining my 13 year old Traverse that I bought used for $5k with 121K miles. When it dies, I'll find another great deal on an older vehicle. Buying new just don't make sense.

My wife wanted to look for a new car in February. we drove up to Cary, Raleigh, and Wake Forest. We were educated that the midsize luxury sedans were a thing of the past. We ended up at the Kia dealer in Wake Forest. They had a K5 that she could test drive but it was not the trim level that she wanted. While sitting at the desk and speaking with the Sales Manager, he divulged that the EV9 sales had stopped because they did not qualify for the Federal Tax credit and that Kia was haunting production in West Point Georgia to move production of EV-9s from Korea to the US to qualify for the Tax Credit. That move in turn was affecting the availability of the K5s. My wife wanted to deal with them but the car that they found that met her standard was in Jacksonville NC. If she signed the paperwork and purchased the car that day they would ship the car up to their dealership for her to pick it up. Thankfully my wife thinks about things more than I NEED that car. If these foreign-produced EVs do not qualify for the Federal Tax credits are dealers keeping that information close to their chests. I hope they are not lying to their customers and selling these cars with the intent to get the federal government to give them tax credit later. I am also finding 2022 and 2023 New Cars/Trucks on lots with no incentive to get them off their lots.

Years ago, I was a car salesman for a large dealership. I met many seasoned finance managers, and the stories they had were endless. Here's one of the best: Young woman went to a Chevy dealer to buy a new Camaro. The salesman got her to buy every dealer add-on imaginable, adding thousands of dollars to the cost of the car. When she got to the finance office, the finance manager took the baton from the salesman, and proceeded to bury this woman with a loan for the longest term possible, at the highest interest rate allowed by law. As she drove off the lot, the finance guy and the salesman high-fived each until it hurt, reveling in how much they made off of that one customer. Seems though, that the sales manager took a liking to the young lady, and soon after invited her out to dinner. One thing led to another, and they were married shortly thereafter. Within a few years, they divorced. Guess who got stuck with the car payments?

Nope, because they owe the bank $152K as soon as they sign that paperwork. However the repo and auction goes, the person still owes whatever the difference is to make up the $152K. A lot of people think they can "give the car back" and it's over. Nope. You owe the bank the full agreed to loan amount. The only way out of the full loan amount is to pay the loan off early.

Kia EV9 for $78,000 MSRP. Plus $6K in warranties and dealer installed options. That's $84,000. Add in 10% sales tax and 2% licensing fee. That's $94,080. Roll in negative equity of $13,000 which is very easy to believe. Guess what - you just financed $107,000. I don't think this is as crazy as Ray makes it out to be. I bet this is a fairly typical Kia EV9 transaction.

Why would a dealership screw over one of their own employees? And why would somebody pay such high dollar for a crappy car manufacturer that puts out crappy cars with engines that blow up and don't even last 100,000 mi. Maybe the question is to ask why does anybody buy a Kia knowing that their reputation and their cars are junk? If people would research car manufacturers and recalls they would know all this.

Even though Ram can't sell any trucks they still don't lower their prices. Why? I keep hearing MSRP. This is only a suggested price and is not what the dealer paid for the truck. So, why can't they lower prices and sell off some of this 363 day inventory they have built?

I have a 20 years old F150 that cost less than $3,000…I used it like a WORK HORSE! My retired neighbor bought a luxury Toyota Tundra (4 doors) with a tiny bed…for almost $70,000 😂 when he bought some outdoor wicker chairs, he asked me to help him carry them on my truck since they won’t fit in his tiny bed! 😂😂😂 I told him to pay for my gas & labor….I made a cool $50 for 15 minutes drive!! 😂😂😂

The inflection point of trucks as utilitarian to "near-lux" was the gas crises of the '70s. Pickups were exceptions to emissions requirements. C'mon Ray, you know that.

They rolled a bunch of negative equity into that loan. Can’t imagine the bank approved that. As soon as that car left the lot, it became worth half the loan value.

Is anyone even considering the real cost to this individual? Plug those numbers into an investment calculator. If they invested $1,800 every month for seven years, with a conservative 5% return, they would have over $183,000. I posted once on some thread that no way was I paying these crazy high prices for today's trucks. Someone commented that I must be poor. Er, no. I am still driving my 1996 truck I bought new. What do you think has been happening to the money that others are spending on car payments all these years? The Kia purchaser is just so foolish with their money.

2 weeks ago I used my truck to carry my brother in laws Sorento to a local Kia dealer. It was doing what Kia engines do. Well they had a EV9 that was stickered for 65k and had a 5k off plastered to it. No way in this earth should someone sign this contract and any bank that would approve that deserves wheat they get in the end. No way will someone ride that note out no way

I bought an older diesel 2005 F350 for 9k last year. I don't regret it, as said in this podcast I don't want to afford a 50,60,70k vehicle. I don't care if its new I will stay in the used market and wait for the deals and I bought my camper to tow with it as well. For much less than the price of a new nissan even. No regrets.

Why do you guys CARE??????? If a greedy dealer wants to keep paying his floor plan .... for vehicles he/she refuses to lower the price.... SO WHAT? Stop sounding SO concerned. These dealers obviously have deep POCKETS. They know that all vehicle reach and age when they cost too much to repair. Hording inventory, for these dealers, is money in the bank. Please stop this nonsense. LET THEM EAT CAKE.

Snagged a 2021 RAM 1500 Classic Warlock with 23K miles at the end of March. They were trying to to give it away. game me 6K over my trade value, then dropped the sell price from 31K (which was already low) to 27k at 8%. RAM is trying to get rid of what they have new or used right now. (by the way this was in Arizona, usually utility vehicles are marked way up here because of the offroad/overland potential)

I have a 2015 tundra that I bought new and I'm currently sitting at 380,000 miles on it ZERO issues I thought about getting a new one but I think I'll keep this one....FOREVER....LOL. And as far as trucks you're absolutely right. Trucks are not trucks anymore, You spend 80,000 on a truck and you got to spend another 10,000 to turn it into a truck. Just like the some trucks, it is beyond me why they would put 20 inch wheels on a "off road" Package.

Not sure if there has been any mentioning of this, but, the current market of trucks are called "Country Cadillacs." And another reason some buy trucks is because of their ability to carry larger people in comfort because of the better headspace. I'm the size of a NFL Lineman, and I've only really fit in trucks and Subarus. Ugghhh.
