I laid a thin coat of gorilla glue under the weatherstripping and used masking tape to hold it down while it dried. I removed the hold down tape. Then I masked everything but left 1/4” of glass and 1/4” of weatherstripping exposed where they meet and used a lighter coat of that flex seal stuff and peeled the tape to get clean lines. 7 months so far with no issues

Good work. I used Black Permatex, ordered online. Still working on bigger drains. What a pain in the efing butt

Hopefully you want to replace your windshield anytime soon so you don't have to do this all over again. Unfortunately this is a known ProMaster issue for sure. I do windshield replacement for a living and every single one of them eventually bows up since it is required for us to remove the cowl to replace. Fortunately the cowls are not that expensive, $100 roughly

You should remove the hood if taking off the cowl

These come double sided taped from the factory. your lucky the shop that replaced it even took the time to re-tape it that being said even the OEM tape lasts probably a year tops, just a poor design

Give us an update please. Are you leak free at 7 months out? I have my doubts silicone is the sealant to use, as in my experience it doesn't adhere well to a lot of materials, including rubber. To glass, it sticks like crazy. That double surface tape is likely from the factory. If it was 3M, I might trust it would do the job. But who knows what FCA uses. I'm on my third cowl, and doing a study to see how prevalent this leak issue is, and how best to find a solution.

Have you checked the cowl clips? I found that two of my cowl clips were bad, they are one time use and the windshield replacement folks always try to reuse them, and they don’t snap in, causing the cowl to not sit tight.

@@karinbphotography same here. The two screws were missing also, that are suppose to hold down the ends. Cowl and rubber edge were slightly warped. Going to try a heat gun and some weight of some sort when I re seal. Van has been sitting for 20 months bc no one wanted to work on my electrical issue. I just recently noticed the gap that let water into the engine compartment and corroded the wiring.

Leak free a few years in!!! I took my time and it paid off, I have resealed the center line with self leveling lap sealant. Fix actually worked like a charm, the silicone kept cracking there. I also added a funnel below middle seam with hose down and away from engine. Bolted it to the little metal tab just under middle. I've seen a few people do this as well.
