@tafonyreynolds I just remember seeing the behringer rd8 in store and immediately checked out the sequencer buttons. They felt so awful and deceiving. They were mushy and not what they appeared to be. Glad to hear they moved away from that

I love that it also has midi and i can use a combination of midi triggering a drumset/multisample on the bitbox (or blackbox) and drum modules or patches/envelopes.

Can you trigger 10 sounds from an external drum machine with midi velocity-to cv on the accent outs? How well does this work. I like using my drum pads and sequencer and the Tiptop octopus is more expensive with only 8 trigger outs.

@@jmfhsmith4923 Sorry i dont know, i dont think it transfers midi accents at all, only notes.

Nice rambling. My only drum module for the foreseeable future is the Disting EX’s sample player app so this isn’t at the top of my shopping list, but you got me thinking. About B----, I own a fair bit of their product. I really like several of their semi-modular units. Their Eurorack modules are generally fine but not very inspiring; basic functionality in a fair bit of HP. But they make it easier for people, me included, to wade into the hobby so I think they are ultimately beneficial. Right now my Go case is mostly filled with non-B--- modules from makers who probably wouldn’t have made any money off me if it wasn’t for B’s line.

I have an old Korg Electribe ESX-1 and the sequencer section seems almost identical to the RS-9. I like the workflow on my Korg. Thanks for the unbiased review. I hope you weren't swatted by the synth mafia!

Out of curiosity, I bought a Behringer RS-9. 15 minutes with and I have to say, for $149 it’s pretty cool. Hella easy to use without looking at a manual, not that behringers manuals are any good, most of them are just plain awful. The build quality is pretty decent, and it does exactly what I want to do. I have to give a 8/10. Long term will be the true test, as nothing I have ever owned from them has lasted more than 5-7 years. But again, for the money.
@tafonyreynolds2 ай бұрын
yea the manual is garbage currently, no explanation of the poly modes yet i believe, who knows if they’re even on there yet?

@ do you find the accent outputs to be useless? I’m not exactly clear what they’re supposed to do. It seems like they just put out the same signal as a regular outputs.
@tafonyreynolds2 ай бұрын
i don’t have anywhere to send them in the current case so i haven’t tried, i’ll be honest i’ve never used accents with other sequencers either, the big pot on the front by the screen seems to imply it’s pretty important tho….idk

They Keys on the Erica Synths Drum seq are like a real 909 and it's quite for live performance. You get that tactile feel and know that you have pressed the button. If the Keys on the RS-9 are like the ones on the RD-9 then they are quite bad imho. I have returned the RD-9 because of the bad buttons. But i am just spoiled by the quality of Elektron Buttons.
