Happy New Year! Don't be too hard on yourself re the equipment that other homesteaders have. I always look at things like that (we have 08 and 10 cars whereas our neighbours have MUCH newer ones) and wonder how much debt they're in for these pretty new things. Its a process and if it takes a couple of years before you can get these items, it'll be well worth it because you're not killing yourself to pay it back. To quote someone not too far away (other side of the world 😜), "Progress, Not Perfection" is key here 😊💜 Thank you for sharing and brining new ideas to us all! 😊

it's been a big year. Love listening to you ramble. We've had geese over the years, and we used to find the baby goslings like yours would just go missing. Then one day we saw a crow with one in its mouth!! So, I would imagine something like that would be your problem. Crows, eagles, owls even. Once they get bigger, they are fine. Hate crows!!!! You shouldn't be disheartened! You have done loads! I do the same thing as you with wanting to achieve so much, usually the time something takes it my downfall! Try the trellis sideways in your beds. Our priority this year is water collection and growing grass. We have 7 geese now and 5 ducks. There is always so much to do when your offgrid! You need to acknowledge that to yourself so you don't get down on yourself! Your abilities are endless. I wish I could do everything you can! BTW what sort of water pump do you have for your garden? I want a faster way to water our garden. I'm currently just using a watering ca n. I can be outside watering for over 2 hours. That is not good time management! Our water pressure is non existent! Once we have that under control, it will free up so much time. We are always planning things that need doing here. It also depends on the weather. Any progress is good progress is what I say now! We will have been offgrid for 1 year at the end of January! It's gone fast, but I do love it, challenges and all! Happy New year to you all!

We have a giantz pump, 380w/0.5hp attached to the stock tank with a pressure thing on it, it works well, low power usage, good flow even through a long long hose! We also have a jet pump which pushes much faster, but uses more power, but when we're filling the irrigation barrels we might use that, straight from the IBC rather than transferring to the stock tank and then hosing out!

Lovely reflections. Great realisation of yearly undertakings and moving forward needs to get done. Yep, work hard during the cooler months so life is a bit more layback during the heat. However, something unexpected always seems to crop up that changes all good plans. I have finally put shade cloth up on my gal cage I got early 2023 and pulled down an old rotten green house. I get told if only I’d spend the same amount of time fixing up inside as I do outside! lol. Just not so interested in inside. If people think you talk too fast they can slow the speed down. For goodness sake. I find your speed fine. I actually speed up other peoples outputs. Happy New Year to you and your family.

I like your videos because you are genuine and real. Some people try to be fake and act perfect for social media and I don’t care for that. You seemed to accomplish plenty in 2023. A lot more than I did. I really did nothing. We live on little income even though we don’t live off grid. I’m hoping that all changes soon. We're not on a property but my husband and I live very simply too. I'm generally happy but like you wr occasionally wish for something specific or just a little more to cover something big that's necessary. I love your channel for your honesty and how real you are. Squirrel away, I love listening to you chat about life and your family and your garden. I hope to get some useful things planted this year. At the moment I only have plants that are pretty to me. I love to listen to you ramble. You are one of my favs because you are so real and true to yourself. You don’t change or try and change bc of other people’s opinions and you keep marching on to the beat of your own drum. People can be so rude and hateful. There is no need for their opinions. Why people think that someone else will change based on what they think they should do or how they think they should be boggles my mind. People need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves and realize the world doesn’t revolve around them or their opinions. Different is good. If we were all the same life would be boring. I love watching your videos especially when you "ramble" as I feel that you are engaging in a conversation. As for other homesteads...they all had to start somewhere and they are the first ones to say that things are not easy, it is taking longer to achieve certain goals, etc. You get the point. It takes time. It will happen. I think the one reflection that was so meaningful was that certain times of the year means certain things can be achieved. There are only so many hours so please pace yourself so that you can enjoy the process. Take care and a happy new year to you and your family!

I have the same.issues with scheduling and deadlines and procrastination. I got a "block planner" type format on my phone and I go through every Saturday and just list in the block time frames things I would like to accomplish. I also have a weekly and monthly goal sheet. Take it easy and do what you can , as they say Rome wasn’t built in a day . I have a list of wants and needs and and slowly mark things off when I get them fixed or bought . It’s a slow process but l will get there sooner or later , positive mind , positive life . We are all lucky , we have a roof over our heads and food on the table , so compared to some other country’s we are blessed .
