One thing I love about this scene is the subtitles. After Rambo tries his best to negotiate, it becomes clear the pirates will not give in. They continue to speak but there are no subtitles because Rambo is not listening anymore, he's evaluating them to determine how best to eliminate them the quickest. Once he's got his targets prioritized, he draws and smokes them all. Fucking fantastic.

@@LennyCash777 That wasnt him being done with what people thought, that was his breaking point, he came home like many others believing he had fought the good fight, but through a couple of pictures of things going bad in the war as happens in all wars, the media made a picture that this was all what was going on, american soldiers killing babies and women with napalm and nothing else, thus protestors was everywhere, and thus when he came home people with nothing else to do lined up to call him baby killer and child murderer while he had never done such a thing, but they wouldnt listen nor believe him they had already made up their minds. In the second movie when he went back to nam to rescue the forgotten soldiers he still thought he had the american army/government at his back at least but then they were left behind, and that is when he realized would always be alone, even if his colonel would always support him, he knew that the colonel would be alone in supporting him, which is why he went with the colonel on his mission in the third blood movie, but here in number 4 he is alone and is completely done with everyones bullshit.

Call me crazy but this is my favorite Rambo movie so far. I love how cynical/pessimistic he is in this one and that is how I view the world as well. The speech that he gives to the girl in the rain is a perfect summation of war and reality. Sly can write some damn good lines. The man knows how to direct action like a pro. I absolutely LOVE this movie. I’m praying last blood is this intense.

Rambo did everything right to the best of his ability here. He gave instructions to his passengers: Stay down, be quiet, don't make eye contact, etc. Rambo kept his calm, spoke respectfully to the pirates, tried to reason peacefully as best he could. Seeing that wasn't going to work, he shot them all saving the passengers particularly the lady who the pirates ESPECIALLY wanted above all else. Rambo spoke true: She would've been raped a bazillion times over & rendered dead later & the male passengers executed by the pirates. Unfortunately, there are those who cannot be reasoned or appealed to except by death & Rambo knows this all too well.

That is what being special forces trains you to do, Green Beret, SAS, etc. He was eyeing them to analyse how long it would take them to fight back, all except the main one speaking didn't have their weapons ready, the one speaking was looking at Sarah. He had his battle plain, execute them all starting with the one with his gun drawn. In the blink of an eye he drew his readied firearm and took them all down without a single thought to fact he ended 3 lives. He hates what he is, but he is GOOD at it.

I'm hoping the new one is epic. I remember 10+ yrs ago when rocky balboa and new rambo came out and I rolled my eyes. Wow, was I wrong. Both amazing movies. I never doubted sly again. Genius on so many levels of film.. behind and in front of camera. Absolute legend and still continues to be.

Rambo was the answer to these missionaries prayer. Not all Christians take the non violence approach. Google MACHINE GUN PREACHER. The idea of pacifism in the face of tyranny is not a Christian one. The movie makes religious people look foolish. Truth be told, if somebody is willing to die in another man's war why are we criticizing them? They may be stupid but they are not cowards.

Well said? None of what he said made any sense. Christians, or any religious person, are already pretty foolish by default given the details of what they believe in anyway and Christians by nature and defined to be pacifistic as per the decree of their religion's founder. If you don't want to be pacifistic, don't be a Christian or at least don't call yourself one. Plus missionaries aren't supposed to kill people anyway so Rambo wasn't an answer to any of their prayers.

The only accurately portrayed religious fanatics in this scene were the pirates and guess what religion they were. This is not my opinion it's Stallones own words in an interview.

ScotchCuresAll True all the way. Use speed, silence, Chaos, and go light. Rambo has a very simple philosophy. Go in with light but effective. The Bow and Arrow with Knife is deadly combination. You have the element of surprise and silence. Once the enemy opens fire, he gives away his location. The bow and Arrow comes at you with little to no noise. The enemy still has to find where it came from. Thus making it hard for them to determine your location.

The only problem I had with this film were the missionaries, which I just found to be really irritating. However if they were not in the film then Rambo would have no reason to do what he does best. So its a necessary evil I suppose.

They can be extremely irritating in real life so I loved the way Stallone wrote this bit. The 'holier than thou' attitude is widespread among religious folks, especially those who have no experience with a world more harsh than their own neighborhood, walks in the park and little league practice. Many missionaries are not missionaries for long, because they can't even fathom what life is really like in places like this until they get there. Not saying that's the norm, but I've met a few.

The pansy reminds me of a Christian missionary I know whose own daughter was attacked and had her eye put out by an irate man, all right in front of him. He and his wife refused to press charges because, in his words, it would "reproach God," and wouldn't be a "loving thing to do to our neighbor." I wish Rambo would've choked him like he did here.
