I don't know why people hated this movie. Some of people who were critical of movie, said it wasn't a Rambo movie. I agree, but every Rambo movie is different in some way. Additionally, each had different motivating theme (in order): Pain, Revenge, Loyalty, Justice, and Family. Fun Fact: This is the first film where Rambo has short hair and doesn't wear the iconic bandana. Historical Fact: Most of the booby traps set by Rambo in the tunnels were the same type of traps used by the North Viet Cong on American soldiers. Their purpose was to maim, but Rambo used them to disable his enemies, so he can easily kill them. Editing Rampage Fact: After initial filming was done and the first cut of the movie was put together, it was test screened in the spring of 2019, and following additional photography and re-shoots, different cuts were edited and test screened throughout the next few months, and the movie was still being edited just weeks before theatrical release and before the final cut was done. However, at the last minute, the movie was cut down even further to be shorter and faster paced, which is why the final theatrical cut is barely 90 minutes long and why all the trailers for the film show some deleted scenes and dialogue.

To me it seems like Taken+Home Alone weak combination with John saying some boring things 3/4 of the movie, while there is too little action. Also previous one looked like a great final rambo movie. I don't hate this movie but I think as a Rambo movie this one was lame. Agree with you that every rambo movie is different but still this one doesn't feel right imo. (I have the same "feel" with Die Hard 4 btw- many say it's legit continuation of Die Hard series but somethings missing, McClaine in 4 it not the same char to me and action looks boring no matter how many special effects they've spammed)
@BigGator52 жыл бұрын
Mrk Wrol ...Did you not watch the other movies? Rambo has always been about the Home Alone (1990) traps. And Taken (2009) is far from unique itself. Rambo is totally consistent here in every way, appearance notwithstanding. Honestly, this is something Jay rightly pointed out while watching, if there's criticism to be had, it is the effects are admittedly terrible. I cringe at them and will dock them points for them.
@mrkwrbl2 жыл бұрын
@@BigGator5yes They are not Home Alone traps and thats why no one called them Home Alone traps before this part came out for obvious reasons. Don't care about Taken being unique or not, as I've said before the "Taken+Home Alone weak combination with John saying some boring things 3/4 of the movie, while there is too little action", this combination is what makes this Rambo movie weak imo.

I will admit that I have only watched the first Rambo and this one and watching this one was on a whim. For me this one was really intense, I think it was everything in Mexico and the trafficking. I have worked with youth who have been trafficked and it was a lot to see and I didn't think all of that would lead to the ending the battle. I ended up watching cartoons after this because I needed to scrub my brain! I do think Stallone did an amazing job but it felt like a story that didn't need to be told (and I'm saying never seeing the middle ones). I do think you will enjoy the Rocky series when you get around to it! Another great reaction!!

Greetings and Love from Germany again. I liked what you said bout this one. I thought kind the same. Not long ago i watched it again. In original, and the german version, with Synchronisation voices. Was kind of strange. The man who gave Sly in all movies his signature voice. Didn't know he past away. So they had to cast a new sync. And they failed, in my opinion. Not really, but when you grow up with Sly movies and you're so familar with the german voice, well, of course its strange. So that i watch the original. My Englisch isn't that good. So to understand what they talking it was good to see the movie first in german. And thought alot and found some answers that satisfice me. First, yes, he's old..but if i was Sly, i would do the same. It's his creation, like 'Rocky'. I always respected him for his work and writings. At second sight i just watched a great movie and an awesome Sly. I didn't compere it with the other Rambo's. I also didnt think bout why he did stuff, that Rambo normaly don't does. You did. I think this Rambo was the most realistic one. The other ones, not Rambo 1, he seemed to me more this typical Hollywood Action soldier, you know. Not here, in Rambo, Last Blood. He's older, tired, but in peace. He's become more vulnerable. And also, Rambo never had faced such a tragic, brutal and heartbreaking lost. Ok, maybe 'Agent Co Bao', in Vietnam. From this point of view, i really felt in love with it and think it's a great Last Blood one. Oh, and i looking damn straight forward to your 'Rocky's' ..stay safe & have a peaceful weekend, my friend 💚

I really enjoyed this film for various reasons. He got to really _act,_ and I think it accurately depicts an aging warrior that is beaten down both by the decades of grind but also the emotional chaos. It's just a movie, of course but within this franchise I could get into this, probably because I'm almost 60, lol.

I think Rambo & Rocky Balboa where legit his goodbyes to both characters… but they were soo good and people dug them that it also makes sense Stallone or the studios would ride the public interest for a few more outings…

The plan to have Rambo rescue someone in Mexico in part V was in place even while Rambo IV was in production. So it's not a new thing. They just finally did it. The alternate Rambo V script had the government creating some kind of genetically altered war creature, and sending Rambo after it when it gets loose and goes berserk. We should be thankful we got this script instead of that one.

UPDATE: I’m beyond glad you've watched the extended cut/101 min version of Rambo: Last Blood. I've watched it as well, such a crime the shorter version (the 89 min version) left out the best parts of the concluding chapter of the John Rambo saga. Noticed a whole lotta hallmarks/opposite parallels to the very first Rambo - First Blood 1982. Technically, this is really the death of John Rambo. Stallone is done with the character and went out with a big-bang note in this film. Here’s something that I wrote for our good old friend Rambo: Farewell, Sgt. Juanito James "John" Rambo. By the order of Col. Trautman in his will, the war is finally over. The battles are done. You have fought your last war and battle. It's OK to have a rest, it's OK to feel pain. It's OK to let out what you're going through. We all lose loved ones in life, no matter what. We live through similar circumstances like you. We feel you. Remember, your loved ones and close friends will be with you. Their memories besides you live forever. Rest in peace John Rambo - hero of the world. 😢😭🙏🏻💔✝️🕊 Now back to reality - in honest words: thank you David Morrell for creating John Rambo to life with the First Blood novel. Thank you Sylvester Stallone, for telling the story of John Rambo in the five movies you did (4th and now Last Blood are my fav sequels), thank you to the cast and crew of all the films for adding their uniqueness to the saga of Rambo. What an ending, cried like a big baby throughout this film. I know everyone hated this film for reasons, I loved it as much as I loved the 1st and 4th Rambos.

I agree that Stallone is great in it, but it just seemed like a Rambo Movie in name only, It definitely seemed like the weakest one IMO as the previous ones had him going up against entire armies, whereas this one was just him going up against a group of traffickers. It actually feels like it would have done better if it was a standalone film based on a different character, so to leave Rambo's story being left in a more positive light of him finally making it home. but instead it just feels like Stallone wrote a script and added the Rambo character to it so that he could make money in re-releasing DVD boxset sales etc.

Thing is, this version WAS the Theatrical release everywhere in the world except the U.S., U.K. and Canada (where they made a last-minute decision to chop it down). And this version is much better. Most of the "additional" footage is the whole opening flood rescue scene and some longer cuts of the other early scenes, establishing the characters' personalities better. Also, the guy in the flood who won't listen to Rambo and goes off to find his wife is a setup, prefiguring the later actions of Gabrielle. Without that scene, you have only one bookend. Thank you for choosing this version, Jay.
