As an English person learning German I love your channel. I've always loved Rammstein and the literal translations I've seen before don't even scratch the surface. That part about your happiness isn't my happiness it's bad luck makes me think about contraception. He's got a woman pregnant before, doesn't want to now and is wearing a condom so he can fire at will.

Thank you for your time in explaining the heavy lyrics of Rammstein! I have always had an interest in understanding what was being said when listening to Rammstein but not knowing anything except Du Hast/ You Hate. As an early teen it was the drums, the guitar even the keyboard that drew me in. Their sounds was unique and heavy with deep distortion. One of a kind type of band with a very personal way of using pyrotechnics and lights to create such a wild visual while on stage performing. Now at the age of 37 and finally deciding it's time to begin learning to speak and understand the German language I've never been more intrigued and excited to get started. So again I thank you for your knowledge and your time or in to these videos. This has given me a perspective on translation that I can understand and now enjoy this music on a whole new level that I never could before. Wish you well and hope you prosper on your journey with this channel. Keep up the excellent work and sharing such gems with everyone willing to listen. I know I'm grateful.

I always interpreted the fire here as 3 different things as it progresses: 1) The physical damaging kind of fire 2) The sexual passion kind of fire 3) The mentally damaged kind of fire

I just came across your channel and I love it. I lived in Germany for 9 years as an adult. One thing that I have always loved about Rammstein is their play of words. When they helped start the "neue deutsche härte" I was thrilled as well. It would be cool if you did a reaction video with anything for "Eisbrecher".

There are so many songs that the lyrics can mean more than one thing. Thanks for this video. You get cuter all the time. Tschuss

This is why music is life. My take on the lyrics is that they are putting themselves in the shoes of the triple agent (XXX). His past was a terrible one. he got hurt- emotionally and physically. pain used to bother him, but as he goes on in life, he gets used to the it, so he’s no stranger to it. And be careful if you’re the enemy inflicting pain because “dangerous is he who knows pain, bang bang,” fire at will. He shows no mercy. Almost like he welcomes the pain because it makes him feel good, like an adrenaline rush. 🤷🏻♀️ And there is no such thing as luck to him. It’s pure skill. So if someone says “good luck,” he just smirks at it. He relies only on himself and no one else. I dunno. You asked me my take 😂 analyzing poetry in the form of lyrics are one of my favorite things to do. I adore how lyrics can mean something completely different to another person- all about perspective. Edit: and the burnt child- feel it’s a metaphor for him no longer existing. The innocent child he used to be has been consumed. Completely destroyed. He is now this callous agent who says come on, bring it!!

Think there already was a one? Don't remember exactly but pretty sure I remember the "Tiefe Wasser" meant buried emotions, that's something I could learn only from here 😊

I love how inherently edgy the line "your joy isn't my joy; it's my misery" (dein Gluck ist nicht mein Gluck; ist mein Ungluck) is. I've always known how the song translated but I don't do good with poetry and cryptic meanings so I've never thought much about what most of it means beyond "dangerous, that burned child, by the fire that takes your life" also being hecking edgy. (I thought by the way that it meant joy without an umlaut - which I wrongly thought the lyric lacked - and luck with an umlaut. Today I learned.) Also wow, I was actually starting to think I was only person who translated the title as "fire at will" rather than "open fire."

Oh hey- real quick- you seem to have the same taste in music as me from what I can tell. If you don’t know who Motionless in White is- highly recommend. Chaoseum is worth checking out too. Both lead singers have amazing voices.
