I've always loved this song because it calls out the evil that exists in the church, which as a Christian is absolutely sickening, and the song is just immensely powerful. Hearing it live when I saw them in Las Vegas in 2017 was a huge treat.

Same here. I've always enjoyed music and other forms of art as a Christian that specifically go after the evil that's committed in the church and/or by supposedly "Godly" people.

Rammstein also had the appropriate, "Mein Teil", on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack and Emigrate have the song "My World" on Resident Evil:Extinction soundtrack, I think that's actually in the film itself to during a fight scene if I recall

This song does not have the pyrotechnics of others, but the lyrics are one of the best because it is directed to cases of pedophilia in the church. Also, whenever Rammstein makes you feel uncomfortable, they have reached their goal. This is what Rammstein can do. They take you to your core and make you think.
@herzeleid95252 жыл бұрын
Honestly I would be as big of a Rammstein fan as I am today even if they had no pyrotechnics or big show. They’re music more than stands on its own. Like with Oomph! That’s a band that never gets the love it deserves.

@@herzeleid9525 Oomph is amazing. Sadly Dero Goi is a COVID denier. And that Oomph has split up.

@@oleksandrbyelyenko435 Yeah that's rather unfortunate. Sadly I never had the opportunity to see them live as I live in California.

Well, I wouldn't say it's about pedophilia but more about suppressed homosexuality that hast to be hidden because of the celibacy. In the song, the priest likes the boys of the choir because they are innocent, but feels attracted by "the tenor", which is a grown man. Later they sing "the young man may stay with him".

I think when they wrote this song, they thought at the incidents in Germany when some priests abuses boys. "Hallelujah" wasn't on a official album. Instead they put "Zeig dich" on the untitled album. It's about the bad and ugly side of the church, and the beging for salvation.

Actually Paul sings the high notes in the chorus. Richard's voice is a bit lower towards the end though.

the children voices are not real kids but it is a program in Flake keyboard call Symphony of Voices by Spectrasonics. it is also use to make the female singing voice in Sonne as well.

I remember that the discussion about the album cover of the mother album was just picking up speed and also the catholic and protestant church had to vomit out their opinion when Rammstein released this song. Suddenly it had become very quiet around the topic of the album cover.

TY again !! 😊 ... amongst of the finest sharply honed triple innuendos here (in my opinion... ) .... 'Dreh dich um ' or Turn around ' - He turns the picture of the lord - He's telling the boy to turn around... And.. they also tell You ( the listener ) to Turn around ...if you deny/ can't handle this Reality - Peace & Love 🤘💜

amazing reaction, Rammstein is never shy of anything and therefore, i highly recommend a "sequel" to this song, Zeig dich (show yourself) which is again another criticism against catholic church, please with subtitles, because it is something that really makes you think. have a nice day❤

@erik sand Hell yeah! It was so badass! Especially because it was also the first day Las Vegas legalized Cannabis. I was absolutely blitzed at that show. Drove all the way from the Bay Area and it was more than worth it! I just saw them two nights in a row in LA a few weeks ago and that was absolutely magical as well.

Not only the lyrics are great. Where the lyrics at 4:30 are kind of vage, the drum "slapping" makes the meaning very clear. Also, there is a little variation of the lyrics at the end: earlier the line goes "On his night stand, there is a picture of the Lord. He turns it around slowly" The last line in the song is "Turn around! Turn around slowly!" Little change, big impact, great writing.
