@4:23 it’s four flares together manually set off by the pyrotechnition’s on the side of the stage. The old effect from the Mutter Tour, was better in my opinion. Till started this song completely in darkness until halfway through the first verse and then a small explosion beside the drums would go off revealing him on a slab slowly rising up to a standing position until he screams “Mein Hertz Brennt!” which at that moment, the entire stage would explode revealing the rest of the band. During the breakdown part, everyone is plunged back into darkness as a red “heartbeat” light on the left chest of till’s jacket flashed in time & poured smoke from it as the sound of a heartbeat played during the breakdown part. As Flake turned up the volume of the distorted keyboard solo as he does here, right at the Crescendo, till would hit the light on his chest igniting a flare in his right hand and hold it up like the Statue of Liberty until the song was over.

Till used to be on a short list to the Olympics as a swimmer, even though its quite some time ago, I can imagine he still have the disciplin to keep in really good shape. I also get that time to hit the gym feeling when I watches Rammstein (And Sabaton aswell for the exact same reasons :) )

This is actually one of the songs I can't decide which version I like better, live or the official video. I really like them both. Usually I like the live versions better. There is one exception though - "Deutschland". You absolutely need to see that video!

live no question. in most chases it's i like both. but this performance with the buildup with the siren and this clean break. it's so heavy and beautiful it's out of question the better version. btw it can not be suggested enough so: try mann gegen mann if you can the music video if you can't the live version is nice too.

In various live videos you can see Til snorting a mouthful of water into the air, like on stage at the bad guy's club at XXXTripleX . In one video he pours a glass of water over his head, which can actually be a preparation for the following heat. This is usually only seen very briefly in the background and he also does this during pieces in which no pyros are used. Before this piece, he probably poured a whole bucket over his head.😂

Till is not sweating in this video, ( may be a little bit) but in fact it is a gel like liquid which prevents him from getting burned later on when he has a blow torch stuck to his heart. 😁👍

Just to let you know, the keyboardist's name Flake (nickname actually, his real first name is Christian) that you pronounced "Flake" (which is obviously how it would be pronounced in English) is actually pronounced "Flaka" (just like we would pronounce a word with an "a" at the end of it in English) in German. Also I'm pretty sure that Till is wet because it started raining half way through the concert. Another thing about Rammstein (if by chance you are not already aware of) is that they have all the same members since the band started way back in 1994. Loving the reactions. I was in the crowd for this performance and the reason he was as wet as he was, is because it had been raining all day. Download 2016 was nicknamed drownload because it rained all weekend. I think it let up for nightwish and iron maiden on Sunday. Could be wrong i was drunk most of the weekend

Fun fact, till was actually a swimmer back in the day and was actually shortlisted to compete in the 1980 Olympics in Moscow for East Germany but left the sport due to an injury. Obviously you need a certain physic to be a swimmer. Guess that never went away with till😂

Nice of you to ask Travis. For me it varies from song to song with Rammstein. If you take f.ex "Sonne",i allways prefer the music video,also when i recommend it to others. Because the music video has the female vocals very clear,wich gives it alot more atmospheric vibes. In a song like this one,i like both versions,but the live one is allways the one i recommend to others. Reason? Oliver on bass shines in this song,it is a heavy heavy and groovy bassline that is layed thick upon this song throughout. Its not often (if at all) Oliver gets mentioned and appreciated enough. Thats why i like to highlight this live version of this specific song. (Btw its the tall guy,sometimes in a hoodie or "tribe paint" at the back. Most often at the opposite side of Christian/Flake. Oliver Riedel is a BEAST on bass!

The soundscape Flake creates on the keyboard from 6:52 to around 7:35 is just amazing. IIRC the music video doesn't even include my favourite part of the song from the album either, where the guitar basically performs Flake's piece above, so that's another reason I prefer the live one.

Live performances are the way to go with these guys. Through some sort of German sorcery they sound better live than in studio. The must-see videos I think you've already covered (Keine Lust, Sonne, Ich Will, Ohne Dich) Ich Will live is amazing. It's the closer to their current tour.

You could look for the keyboarders book. Flake said in an interview he wrote a book and describes his sad life as keyboarder 😂 and at first till had a piercing for the lightcable in his mouth but he sprayed drinks through the hole and it infected. Think the book is a review worth.
