as a punk from the seventies, this was a real treasure to find when it first came out! i was feeding my baby in the middle of the night while i was watching MuchMusic back in the nineties, and this little treasure came on. my kids heard this on my burb mobile's cassette deck for a few years ;) Rancid forever , baby!

Dude i love seeing how they just created a whole feeling that we know nostalgically as the 90s. They made it man. Things we "capture" today from back then were brand new to these boys. Its a trip to think they just lived that way cause it was them. Not some copy you see on tiktok today trying to keep it all going.

Rancid is way too good to call a Clash tribute band, but their singer/songwriter idolizes Joe Strummer and it comes through in a lot of their music. Their musical arc is similar too: they made their name with some high-quality punk albums in quick succession, and then the music took all kinds of weird turns and incorporated all different genres together. He even mentions Strummer by name in the opening song on the first album they released after Strummer's death: "I'm dancing now to a whole different drummer, but I'll keep listening to the great Joe Strummer, 'cause through music, you can live forever."
