3rd attempt at this video, but I got it right this time. Cunningham got the nickname "The Ultimate Weapon" thanks to his rocket arm and ability to gain yards on the ground. Randall threw for almost 30,000 yards and ran for almost 5,000 yards in addition to throwing 207 touchdowns and running for 35 touchdowns. Didn't win NFL MVP nor did he win a Super Bowl, but is remembered as the first dual threat quarterback in NFL history.

I did not know that. Definitely so underrated. The guy could pass, evade, smart, run, lead his team, and that throwing motion was the very best to watch, - like a silky, strong, slinky rubber band. So powerful, mechanically efficient and most of all fluid. Loved the way he played.

Randall Cunningham is the best quarterbacks to ever play the game as a passer and a runner. He was a true dual-threat quarterback before there was a Michael Vick or Lamar Jackson. He can pass, run, punt and running hurdles over defenders with his legs. He’s very underrated as a QB only at 6-4, 215 pounds. Salute to #12 Randall Cunningham!!!

He was better than Mahomes in every way. He had no O line, his weapons were shit and he played in an era where they actually played real football. You can’t even name a single player in history who walked onto an offense with two elite weapons. Mahomes has also played his entire career under the Rodgers/Barr rule of 2018. In the same timespan an old man won two SB’s on the backside of 40 years old in two different conferences!

As a 63 year old lifelong Eagles fan I still curse Bryce Paup for his dirty hit on Randall's knee in the '91 season opener because that team was poised to win it all as the Birds '91 D was one of the best in NFL history. After we lost Randall for the season we went through a series of bad QB's before finally settling for an over-the-hill Jim McMahon. How could anyone forget the MNF game in Houston that season in which our D inflicted a devastating punishment on Warren Moon & Co?

Cunningham threw for a higher percentage, more TDs, a higher TD percentage, more yards, threw for 20+ TDs five times and 30 or more TDs twice. Additionally, he was named All-Pro and split the league MVP Award three times (1988,1990, 1998). He put up better passing stats in a harder era to complete passes. It isn't even close. Vick struggled to pass in an era where defenses were handcuffed. Only thing Vick had on Randall was footspeed. To say he was a better passer than Cunningham is ridiculous. in his physical prime there has been no other QB who was more naturally talented over all. The only issue for him was that he never really had good solid NFL Offensive coaching until he got to Minnesota. Philly in in Randall's era had Keith Jackson and Fred Barnett to throw to and an ever changing door at running back. Come to think of it Randall really never got a chance to "learn" the NFL game he was pretty much thrust into it due to injury and there being very few playmakers on offense. When he got to Minnesota he wasn't the runner he once was but he had gotten a lot better at reading defenses and had a good coaching core around him not to mention all the weapons the Vikings had at WR. I wish Randall could have had a better situation than the one he got to start out his career with but it is what it is. In today's game he would have shinedlike very few. He had the arm, the athleticism, the height, etc. He was like watching a superior athlete go up against inferior opponents when he was hot and it was fun to watch.

@@christopherhaynes8101 Well, well, well...What do we have here? Oh, ANOTHER dumb, Cliff Notes Millennial. Randall Cunningham was definitely a much better, more talented passer than Lamar Jackson. Because of the ridiculous rule changes put in by Roger Goodell, it is SOOO much easier to complete passes now than back in Cunningham's era. Why was RC's era harder? Because defensive players were allowed to hit receivers and cover in a more physical manner. When Goodell put the shackles on the defensive players, passing and receiving stats became ridiculous. Now a QB is a "bum" if he completes less than 60 percent of his passes. Madness. And don't even start with that ignorance about QBs throwing for 5,000 yards and 50 TDs in a season. SMH. Look at any Top QB rankings from the last ten years. At least half of them have ratings of 100+, 30+ TDs, and at least nine of them (probably all 10) have completed 60+ percent. It's not too hard to put up THOSE kind of numbers when the defense is mandated to let receivers run free or get a flag thrown on you and get suspended for four games (without pay, of course) if you even knock them down. SMH 🙄 🙄 🙄. When guys like Eli Manning, Tony Romo, and Jimmy G are putting up those kind of stats and rookies come in immediately lighting up the league, your league's defenses are weak or handcuffed.. Dan Marino, R. Cunningham, John Elway, and Joe Montana would absolutely destroy this era's NFL. Back to where you belong, junior.

The reason he didn’t win a Super Bowl was because he played in the toughest division in the league: the old NFC East. Consider that during his time in Philly, the Giants won 2 Super Bowls, Washington won 2, and Dallas won 3. At the end of the day, what all those teams all had that Randall never had was a 20-25 carry running back to take the weight off him (he got 1 season with Herschel Walker) …and a solid OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR. All Buddy Ryan cares about was the defense.
