The first video game where you played as an anthropomorphic animal was Kangaroo for the arcade and atari all the way back in 1982! You play as a mama kangaroo, trying to get her babies back. And I only know THAT because it is the first video game where you play as a female character if i remember correctly. Wish I was joking on that one.

I got into the fandom through one of my friends, but I was introduced to it about 3 years earlier by another friend, we all were in the same school at one point. I have a feeling that we might be the only furries, not just in my town (Gillingham, Kent, UK), but in the cluster of 4 towns Gillingham is part of, known as the Medway towns.

I have some raw videos I took of Confurence East 1 in 1995 if you want to see what fursuits looked like back then. The costume contest started at about 46 minutes. I found this fact odd, but there is an official furry convention in China of all places. Something like Guangzhou Furry Summer Festival (妖都兽夏祭) in 2017. Don't know anything about the current iteration or anything, but I learned about it towards June of 2018 and the website looked super cool and high-tech compared to what I usually see
