Wow, subscribed! I have a 2000 S that I was considering this swap for as well. Right now, after seeing your video, it seems overwhelming :-)

Getting ready to start an LS swap on my 2007 Boxster S where do I go for the best and most information looking for a little advice thank you
@random8163 ай бұрын
That's awesome! Unfortunately there are not a lot of resources out there... I would start by talking to the big shops doing the swaps, Renegade Hybrids and Chavis Performance. KZbin is a great resource and you could also check over at the 986forums. Pelican Parts also have a swap forum where you may be able to get some good info. Best of luck with your project, hopefully I'll have another one to share soon!

How much for a brand new LS3 crate engine cost you? Does it come with a wire and accessories? Thaks
@random8164 жыл бұрын
It was several years ago now, but the motor itself I think I got for just under $8K, then the installation kit which includes the harness, ECU, sensors etc. was like $1200~ Contact Scoggin-Dickey Chevy in Texas, they had the best prices at the time~ Good luck!

Can you answer a question for me? I have not got my kit year just engine and transmission, I'm looking for distance from axle center to front of crank pulley. Sry: just realized this was from 6years ago..
@random8163 жыл бұрын
Don't know, car has been sold for some time. You will need an LS4 crankshaft pulley in order to make it fit in a Boxster, single row pulley.

Any regrets? Overall did it work out well?
@random8164 жыл бұрын
I regret that I don't still have it, that's about it:) Actually building one for a guy now but in a 911 convertible... if I get some time i'll post a video again some day~ Thanks!

Also, as far as the harness/Throttle pedal, do you run the harness for the LS as a standalone, and use the DME for the chassis electronics of the S? Does this require mounting the pedal to the "ceiling" or can the factory pedal be reused. I would think with the flexibility of the GM ECUs it wouldn't be an issue

So did Renegade Hybrids supply a wiring harness? Or did they walk you through getting all the gauges to work normally?
@random8167 жыл бұрын
Haha no they certainly didn't "walk me through" anything. More like "gave me a rough idea". Really just the tachometer and Coolant gauge. No wiring harness, you really just integrate the GM harness into the Porsche stuff and take stuff out of the Porsche harness you don't need. Coolant gauge is simple because you just tap the Porsche coolant sensor into the GM block and leave the wiring for it in tact. The tachometer was adapted using a little black box called "Tach-adapt" - google it.

How did it turn out....may I ask how much you have in it?
@random8166 жыл бұрын
UGH... :( Hard to say as I really did stop adding it up! All said and done, buying the car, the conversion kit, new motor, wheels suspension brakes etc. whole 9 yards I probably had a little over $40K in it. If I had to be specific i'd say close to $43,000 for everything but gas. 2 things to remember - First that does not include my time or the time of those who helped me which while it wasn't that much time overall but say 10+ hours from Porsche mechanics. Secondly I was working at a Porsche shop when I built this so the money I spent on many many things was at shop cost with 0 markup. Which on many things really won't make a difference since the internet is so competitive in price but even the internet has to make their money. I got 0 discount on the conversion kit from Renegade because they are dicks. Also the motor I bought directly from Scoggin Dickey Chevy in Texas and don't think I got any better of a deal then any other guy calling up asking for a deal. I definitely saved a lot on little things though so it all adds up, if you shop around a lot you would probably be able to get everything for close to what I got it for but if not you'll end up with another $3K in it. Hope this helps, good luck.

Cool project: I guess you're finished by now. I just bought this same set-up for my 914. I've also sourced a 2006 Boxster S (6 speed). Looking forward to start wrenching. Roger Stegall in Germany (U.S. Army) KZbin Channel KaRoLiLaLu
