Tbh ive found with my own testing that people shoupd stretch there budget. Now what I mean by that is dont jump the gun. Save a little more buy something a little better and it helps the mental aspect also. You won't feel like you are missing out as much and you can maybe get the pedals that truely will help. I remember jumping the gun when I started and it actually cost me much more due to upgrading quicker then I would have if I just saved a little more. Just my opinion for more newer buyers. Also now that we know fanatec is staying around and will be worked on even more I think they are a great option for new buyers. May be the perfect option. Due to 3rd party adaptera and or connectors to use other wheels now. Big ecosystem if you want to stay inside of it. Great ffb now and some of the best budget pedals on the market.

@@passone even if it's never usually buy once haha. But yeah, I've wasted and or lost money doing it the budget way first then completely changing brands and then selling other stuff I had which then I couldn't make the money up on etc. So it worked out worse not just saving and going for it. Because we all know it's hard not to want something better lol.

I can only recommend to look out for used parts, depending on your location this will limit your results, here for example there is almost only Fanatec gear available, but you can save so much compared to retail or even most black friday deals. You'll often have to wait some time to find a good deal or even a bundle or product you want specifically but for my whole Fanatec gear I've saved around 30-40% so far (could be more if I'd were more patient).

There are plenty of guides where people recommend not waste time and money on half-sulutions, and really aim at level you need in the end. And nobody makes a video where they compare good sets. Almost no videos of comprehensive technical (slew rate) vs games compatibility analyses. My approach is DIY-FFB pedals, wheelbase based on rims (coz two rims may cost you a wheelbase). But for a final confirmation on feel and look - I am buying tickets to SimExpo 2024. Coz it's huge investment and just very interesting topic :)

Great overall coverage of the market. I just disagree on some components "not breaking the bank", because getting a full sim rig with clutch, shifter, handbrake with decent quality, it's difficult to get under 2 500 k€ (not even counting the PC itself and other peripherals). I used to tell people it's possible to build an "ok" entry level rig to start simracing with 2k€ PC included. Of course we got a lot of inflation, but still I find mid range really expensive those days.

I started with a G29, and after 3 years (of fun) bought a Fanatec DD Pro (CSL) with 8nm and loadcell brake. As our host suggests, its a great buy in that if a person opted for the 5nm back he/she/they could upgrade to the boost (8nm) pack, as well as upgrade the brake pedal to the loadcell. In the end I went a little further and bought the Logitech G Pro, and it was worth the extra. Feels more solid, Trueforce, and now the addition of peripherals (which the Fanatec already has). All in all, I'd go for the Fanatec if budget is a consideration, as I still have both (all, in fact) of my wheel and pedal sets. But knowing what I do now, personally I wish the Logitech had been released at the time I bought my first DD wheel. No shade on the Fanatec, though.
