I agree on all of your point, except on your point of Blitzo being an asshole was only played for jokes. While, yes a lot of him being an asshole was there for some humor, you could say this was very slightly foreshadowed in the episode Verosika was introduced and confirmed they broke up after Blitzo "ran three rings to wrath and maxed her credit cards on shitty horse riding lessons", then it just seemed like Blitzo being himself. But in this episode with that hallucination scene, I think they gave a reason why he did that besides "He likes horses and was willing to ruin his relationship to ride one". Verosika says "and you still push away anyone who gets too close until they resent you for being a selfish shit shit shit fuck" so many he thought they're relationship was normal until he realized she was getting to close and got uncomfortable. So he thought breaking up with her won't keep her from trying to reconnect later, so he did something that would piss her off to the point where she'd hate him for as long as they were both in hell. So I think, this is Viv's way of showing how scared he is of letting someone in, even though he wants to. As evidence of him still putting up with Stolas' demands of sleeping with him once a month. Though it might be his own personal form of depression or just sometimes of abandonment problems because that's a big thing with those mental problems, you want to be around people and feel loved in some way, but you don't want to drag them down or you don't want them to leave you, so you push people away and keep your walls up.
@minervoionni363 жыл бұрын
Wow, y’know, I haven’t even considered that he did that to get her to never love him again and push her away, yet at the same time that’s such an obvious explanation. I really did think he was just being an asshole for no reason, yet the thing he did here was way too far compared to the other things he did. And it felt very out of place. But this makes a lot of sense.

about that one scene where you can see blitzo's eyes go wide when he sees what stolas is doing for him - i feel like it's much deeper than just surprise. if you look at his face, he's not shocked, he's in total awe, it's a look of admiration and he's completely astounded that stolas would go through so much trouble to come save him. it's not like he just showed up out of the blue, no, he MADE AN ENTRANCE. he pulled out all the stops and went full powerful demon shitlord on those humans because someone tried to hurt his blitzo. he wanted to show just how much he cared for him, and i think that blitzo's expression there is a reflection of how he never realised stolas would get this passionate about him potentially getting hurt, and maybe he sees that he shouldn't be quite so scared to love him because now he sees it. i mean, stolas is royalty risking everything for this low-caste imp. you could make the argument that he was just angry because he could get in trouble for allowing blitzo to use his grimoire, but somehow i don't believe that.

I think for Stolas opening portals. Every time he's had the Grimoire in his hands he wasn't reading anything or actively casting a spell to open the portals he did. Such as in episode 2 it was just floating along beside him and during episode 5 when he opens the portal to show off the Harvest Moon, its open but he isn't necessarily reading a spell. So for Stolas, he only needs to be in proximity to the book to be able to use its powers while anyone else has to actively be able to read the spells within which is why Loona failed cause she couldn't read in the red light. It also explains why he had to have the agents summon him so he could manifest physically to save them, and the book. As for setting up Blitzo's relationship problems... what series have you been watching? That's been a pretty consistent theme from the start. Like of the various antagonists in the show 2 so far have been his literal Ex's. Though I guess there is some wonder if his relationship was with the actual Fizzaroli and not just some hate sex with the more popular Robo-Fizz during their shared time at the amusement park.

Thinking about final pt1, what was Moxxie hoping for when he started singing a romantic song in a hellish brothel? This is what a sinner, who has just entered hell, would do, but not an imp born there and knowing the local morals.
@spoonspoon88423 жыл бұрын
Is it just me that felt that moxies musical scene didn’t really come out of nowhere, and the stuff about moxie being insecure and scared of rejection totally makes sense? I mean the murder family episode literally revolves around moxie being kinda shit at his job, or at least not as ruthless as the other two imps. His ‘failure’ could have cost the lives of Blitzo and more importantly his WIFE and you can tell that that took a toll on him in the truly sincere way he apologised to Blitzo. And even though his apology was accepted and they through a party for him etc, because of what happened to the family you can see at the end of the episode he is still upset and so probably wouldn’t have been taking in any of the praise that he was getting at the time, and was probably internalising the fact that he *did* fuck up. Again in the harvest moon episode, him entering the games to try and prove himself to Blitzo and Striker and his in laws, him being defensive about striker joining IMP (because he assumes Blitzo likes striker better than him, aka feels rejected by Blitzo) and it seeming like he blamed himself for Millie’s leg getting caught in the bear trap/ them getting caught in general. If you had to ask me to summarise moxies character in a few words before this episode, “insecure” and “scared of rejection” would definitely be two of them, so i feel like that being the theme of his song makes a lot of sense. For me it felt more like a development rather than an introduction to these feelings, and I think that - even if it was subtly - the tension between Blitzo and moxie has always been more than *‘haha bullying moxie funny’* Either that or I’m just reading way too much between the lines lol I know you said that it didn’t matter that much and you’ve just accepted that this is just how character development is introduced in this show, but I still think that is was more than a one episode thing with this and I thought the scene fit quite well. (sorry if there’s any grammar mistakes im writing this at one in the morning, edit was spelling)
@grintheartist6473 жыл бұрын
I feel Blitzø’s character is consistent and has always had these insecurities but we just saw these in sub text in the show. Now I may be adding things the show should have explained or whatever but if you look at Blitzø’s relationships with the context that he fears true intimacy, we see (or maybe can guess) meanings behind his actions. Like him being associated with Stolas and feeling intimacy with him but still being at a distance and not going all in by claiming it is all for the book (which it might have been in the beginning) that might explain why he didn’t just kill Stolas with Striker for the book. Though I feel the issue is that a lot of the conclusions people come to with these characters are through sub text and assumed with the current clues we have.
@thejadedcommenter73713 жыл бұрын
I think episode 7 addresses and reassures a lot of the potential problems that you’d predicted for Stolitz. On the note of character development, I think that the show _has_ to show character progression like this because of how infrequently episodes are released. If these episodes were released a week or so apart, then it would be reasonable to hope for more buildup for each character’s progression. But, with so little time and such a great quantity of things happening in each episode, the show doesn’t necessarily have time to do a slow build-up for each and every character.

Your tangent at the end about how much we should take the continuity seriously actually got me thinking alot about the overall tone of the series so far, cause Helluva Boss seems to be very.... confusing in a tonal sense? And what I mean by that is the show so far seems to be a weird amalgamation of episodic stories, setting up future characters that will come back, and setting up future plot points. Although each episode is still a self-contained story, all of them except for Murder Family have introduced some key elements that will likely come back later in the show. And that would be fine if Vivzie didn't affirm that the show was going to be episodic in nature. It feels like they had way too many good ideas for the story and the world that it ended up being a much bigger show than the crew thought. And that raises the question of Hazbin Hotel as well. Of course it's most likely going to be way more story-driven and bigger in scale, but I feel like when Season 1 of that comes out, it will feel much more in line with Helluva than was originally thought to be planned. Or maybe I'm wrong, we don't have much info on Hazbin right now anyway.

I honestly just think Blitzo and Stolas are friends with benefits. At least for now. I mean, they technically aren’t romantically involved with each other... yet (maybe), but they are absolutely repressing feelings for each other. 7:13 they did actually. Well, only for a little bit. The camera spinning shot of when Moxxie and Blitzø are shooting side by side had the motif of when Blitzø is on the job (when him and Moxxie first tried to kill the mother in episode 1, when he was trying to bodyguard Stolas in episode 2, when he was explaining his plan on how to one-up on Verosika in episode 3 and when the IMPs first got off the tourist bus to go kill Lyle.) It’s very subtle but it’s there. Idk if this is specifically Blitzø’s motif or the theme for the IMPs as a whole but I think the characters each have a theme and I’m planning on making a video about it. But that motif that plays when Millie is on screen for the final fight scene is actually the same from episode 3, when she fought the fish monster. But if it’s Millie’s motif, then why was it playing during the struggle between Striker and Moxxie? I don’t fucking know, maybe I’m thinking way too deep about it

I mean… Stolas still refers to Blitzo as a plaything when talking to the demon hunters, and little creatures in front of the demon hunters, he gave off the impression that he only saved them because he’ll get in trouble too if they get caught, and Stolas could’ve been all scary because he was trying to intimidate the IMP crew so they don’t mess up again. He’s always flaunting his relationship with him even though it makes him uncomfortable, and it’s because of all this I can’t get behind the relationship, and even if this was genuine, even if this was all one big grand gesture of affection, that single moment is meaningless if Stolas doesn’t show it consistently, it’s like you’re responsible for feeding someone, but instead of feeding them 3 meals a day, you don’t feed them all week, but on the last day give them a full roast dinner, the roast dinners are great, but I’d rather not starve in between them. I find it hard to agree with, a lot of this stuff made perfect sense to me given what we already knew about the characters, and I like how the buildup was subtle and we weren't given a ton of foreshadowing, because that usually just ends up taking up too much time and overstaying it's welcome. I mean, Just look at Steven Universe. The Disney animation wasn't a waste of resources either, It was totally worth it, man. You know why? Because it was fucking awesome.
@RandomGameCritic3 жыл бұрын
It makes perfect sense "given what we already know about the characters"? How can you say that? Blitzo is nothing but a man child and an asshole throughout the whole entire show and, prior to this episode, they never even *attempt* to make us feel any sympathy for the people that he hurts. Not once. You know, it's okay to have a more serialized show that doesn't plan a whole lot of things out in advance. But to say that this show was actively building towards these character moments for a while now would be giving them too much credit.
@beautifulmanstan88403 жыл бұрын
@@RandomGameCritic Alright well... I can't stop you from thinking that. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
@beautifulmanstan88403 жыл бұрын
@@RandomGameCritic OKAY. I've had some more time to think about this whole thing. I believe your genuine critiques of the show (not the nitpicks) are understandable, but I do believe they are a result of a few misconceptions regarding certain aspects of the show and a subsequent misinterpretation of What Viv and Brandon intend for this show to be. This is an anti-sitcom. Or more accurately, a chaotic good sitcom. Each episode does focus on a specific thing and is it's own isolated experience, but that doesn't mean that there's no continuity between the episodes. You seem to think that there isn't due to your interpretation of Stolas' arc. Stolas genuinely doesn't know what to do to help his daughter and fix his situation, so all he was able to promise was that he wouldn't leave her behind, and he hasn't. Now talking about ep.6, The show likes to chuck in dramatic elements and doesn't shy away from sincerity, and some of the events and character development may be subversive, but they absolutely make sense in hindsight and serve to deepen these characters and make them more than just sitcom tropes. If that variety is something you don't like, and you just want them to stick to a tone, then I don't know if you're going to enjoy this show. Although I think you will because I doubt that they're just going to forget Blitz and Moxxie's development. That's not to say that Blitz is immediately going to become a saint, but I believe they will share more of a mutual respect and attempt to understand eachother's motivations and work through their differences going forward.

So, on the whole thing with Stolas' book, if Vivzie follows it to a T, Grimoires are heirlooms that get passed down through the generations. That is where the idea that Octavia would get the book if Stolas dies would comes from.

I'm several days late on it, but I just found out this video existed so I'm gonna give my two cents. I feel like Blitz's character arc wasn't really out of nowhere. It was foreshadowed in Episode 2. Fizzarolli literally asked Blitz if anyone loved him, and he enthusiastically replied "No!" and started shooting. Within the same episode, we had Oktavia and Stolas's conflict, showing the episode, by extension the series, was going to go to some emotional moments. I pretty much lost all belief that Helluva Boss was going to be Sunday cartoon type show after that. It carried onto Episode 3, when we learned the details about Verosika and Blitz's breakup. I mean, hey, now we know why no one loves him, right? I would be very concerned if Blitz continued to be a total dick to Moxie after this episode. This show is only like eight episodes, and I'm not expecting high-quality, five star storytelling from it. But it's already established that overarching plots is something it wants to do. I would be v e r y concerned if there was no character development, since the main series, Hazbin Hotel, is all about redemption. Fizzarolli and Verosika are shown as coming back in the trailer, so hopefully that's a good sign that his character development will continue in his interactions with them. I'm not expecting Blitz to full-stop being rude to Moxie right away, but if the last episode ends with Blitz chewing Moxie out over some dumb bs for comedy purposes that's gonna be worrying to me... I'm not too familiar with a lot of Vivzie's content, so I have very little to compare it to in expectations for Hazbin Hotel.

A grimoire is just a book full of spells. Of course Stolace can go to earth and back without the spells. He’s a magical being. But the Imps/Luna aren’t inherently magical, so I imagine they have to draw some power from the book. Stolace has natural power.

I think I know why we all liked this episode. It wasnt a “lets make the fans cry” episode, it was supposed to make u feel tense, maybe feel bad for the characters (like for blitzo) but not to make you actually feel sad, that I think is how this show should manage the rough episodes/scenes/story’s THE ROUGH EVERYTHING because this series is not supposed to be a cry series, this series was never one, and this just works better. This episode was the best, hope they continue doing this type of episodes in this way because this episode was a masterpiece!

Kn defense of Loona's combat: knowing she was adopted explains this pretty well. For one, Blitz might have taught her a few things and was his only employee until Moxxie and Millie showed up, but also because you have to know how to fight and defend yourself from other orphans/foster kids where it's a general unspoken rule that they get to eat any body part they can successfully remove from you. I should know, I was a foster kid lol. If she wasn't already skilled in ass-kicking before Blitz adopted her (hell, that might even be why he chose her out of any other hellhound), he probably trained her a bit.

I haven't seen anyone talk about it but in real life their is a truth serum which people use to get information. Also for the shotgun to fire off when it hit the ground, it is possible that a shotgun will fire with enough force and height but since there is bodies there isn't enough force or height to cause the shotgun to fire. But I bet it did for comedic purpose.

I almost expected a sin covering the fact that the one agent had her head twisted all the way around and used as the way to summon Stolas and she lived? Like…this goes right alongside her having glass in her head after Loona uses her to smash through the mirror. Overall, a great analysis as always. You said in the Twitch stream shortly after the episode aired that you find it interesting that people turn to hear what you think each time content is released from the show, and I can say I do so because you give,IMO, fair criticisms of the show while acknowledging the strong points. Honestly I feel the same with how the show is essentially playing Russian roulette with an uzi with Stolas and Blitzo’s relationship. On one hand I’m grateful it wasn’t half assed and rushed like other ships (Bumblebee I’m looking at you) and it’s taking time to go beyond “haha adultery and sex funny”, yet I know for a fact that this fandom is going (as if it hasn’t already) down a toxic as fuck spiral if the decide to toy with the shippers like this. Shippers ruined many shows and fandoms, I’ve seen it first hand, but this is the first time I can be sure there will be bloodshed if something goes wrong. It’s the internet, everything is magnified to absurdity and it’s the perfect weapon for crazies if something doesn’t go their way. I just hope they play their cards right and not poke the bear too much.

Stolas X Blitzo could or could not happen. Based on the episodes so far: Blitzo wants to be loved, has some issues with pushing people away, fixates on M&M because he mistakes wanting what they have together for wanting to be with them, and the main thing between Stolas and Blitzo are Blitzo's issues and Stolas being ... very bad at communicating. Stolas wants a relationship. Blitzo wants to be loved. Blitzo thinks Stolas only sees him as a fuck toy, because that's how Stolas treats him.
@RealKipper13243 жыл бұрын
Also, right at the Stolitz moment, right before Blitzo and Stolas embrace with a kiss, you can see hesitation on blitzo's face, along with some sweat. So, building on what you said, Blitzo absolutely has gained more respect for characters like Moxxie and Stolas, however is still not yet fully for having feelings for Stolas. This absolutely does not deconfirm anything, and fits into the plot nicely.

5:00 I got the vibe that Moxie was only there for his hallucination and Blitzo was only present in his. Might just be my dumbness shining through. But by the looks of it, Moxie's hallucination made him more aware of his own flaws, because the version of Blitzo we see in his hallucination was just his subconscious on drugs. Whereas Blitzo was just put in a position where he was confronted with all the things he feared and craved all at once, and to me it kinda makes sense that he pretends it didn't happen in layer episodes. Just because you get confronted doesn't necessarily stop you from wanting to run away from your issues. I'm reading way to much into this.

7:35 that depends on the caliber of the weapon even in fully automatic weapons something with a lot of weight up front is going to be capable of being fired without much issue. From what I could tell it seems there was a full auto SBR style SMG on-screen when he pointed this out so I'm going to use that as an example. That's most likely going to be in the equivalent to 9×19mm also known as 9mm Parabellum or just 9mm as it is now recognized as the standard 9mm cartridge but regardless a weapon like that because of how much weight it has forward of the action is going to bring with it a lot of downward force a solid grip would easily allow someone the fire that weapon fully automatic especially since it's more than possible for him to brace it against his bicep 7:37 I'm very thankful he said possible for a shotgun and not that shotgun. Because fun fact there are shotguns that can be fired as a result of the but hitting the ground in the case of it being open bolt. And that shotgun that is open bolt if the bolt goes forward the weapon will fire as opposed to a closed bolt weapon where the boat can go forward without the weapon discharging. There are open bolt shotguns though and thus it is possible for a shotgun to fall hit the ground with the butt of its stock and that resulting in the bolt going forward and discharging the weapon. Hello I'm not a weapons expert and in fact I could fly to Russia and be a citizen in under a week but I'm still more American than this dude.

RandomGameCritic sin counter: 21 0:28 - Letting your phone, I assume, go off during a recording. The unprofessionalism is off the charts and is something you would definitely sin if that took place in the actual cartoon. 1:16 - That pronunciation of the word 'kooks'. I don't know why but it just did not sound natural. 2:33 - It doesn't say 'Dumb Bitch juice'; it only says 'Bitch juice'. By writing this, you are either assuming that this character is a dumb bitch or personalising your feelings and letting us know how you feel about this character. 3:10 - This was funny but still a sin! 3:45 - CinemaSins are very rarely this lenient with removing sins. 4:07 - The spelling of 'Definitely'. 5:40 - Arbitrary and again, very, generous potential sin removal. 5:45 - Acknowledging a missed edit during your video whilst not adding it to the subtitles is still a sin as it adds an extra layer of reading for your viewers ... and given as a lot of those viewers will be American, that is too much reading. 6:21 - You've written 'her' twice. Unless you're trying to emphasise her gender and trigger anyone, this was clearly an error when writing the script. 6:24 - Another edit you've made without adding to the subtitles. 6:24 - Also, this flashed on the screen for a second - if that - requiring your viewers to have to pause should they wish to read this. 8:10 - At this point, this is less a Cinemasins parody and more an appraisal. For that, I'm going to add 5 sins! 8:51 - SIGH! 8:57 - SIGH! 8:58 - Misspelling of 'deactivate'. 10:35 - Adding an extra 'was' in the subtitles means that those who have impaired hearing would read a sentence that does not make grammatical sense. 14:55 - Backtracking Again, will note, I am a friend of Kyle's and I do not even watch this show. This is just a banterous critique that I have decided to comment on each of these videos.
