Hey Folks! Thanks so much for checking out the RR video. I put it together 13 years ago using bootleg videos (VHS and DVD) that i had acquired over time. It was one of the first videos on this channel. Just wanted to say Thanks! I mainly upload guitar related content, including lessons, etc. If you’re interested in guitar related stuff…please consider subscribing. I’d really appreciate it, it would help build the channel. Also, Any suggestions on how to improve the channel would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I always get angry when I think about the potential Randy had and how it was taken away so easily. The amount of talent the guy had was indescribable. Since Randy thought about leaving Ozzy's band on the night before he died, I always thought that if Randy were still alive, he might've created some solo albums after he left Ozzy and finished studying classical guitar at the music college in he wanted to go to in Europe.

I think Randy would have stuck with Ozzy through the most of the 80s and then ventured out on his own, or went more classical route. it's sad we never got to see his FULL potential as he aged.

Actually, that's not true. When I took a tour of the Musonia last Summer (The music school Randy's mother built and where he learned and taught guitar), his brother, Kelle, said that Randy "Was no angel". So at one point, Randy DID do drugs because hey, it's the Rock and roll life style. But thankfully he stopped before he became an addict...and decided to stick with smoking cigarettes instead (Randy smoked a lot...A LOT) which might be JUST as bad. XD

Randy kinda reminds me of Tommy Bolin. A virtuoso. “Innocent to a T”. Different playing styles granted but both well on their way to becoming legends before life was stripped from them. I think now 40+ years after both of their deaths, they’ve each achieved legendary status in their own right. So many talented artists gone before their time. Would’ve liked to have seen what Randy would’ve continued to do had he still been around.

Y'all are making it an issue out of ego where as for Randy it was not at all about ego, People who even knew Randy personally have even stated that Randy had a very genuine and sincere dove-like quality about him of which is profoundly evident in all interviews of him. From such interviews I myself can sense of just how much a precious human being he truly was in life.

I met Randy Rhodes when I was a bellman in Phoenix az. They were doing the " blizzard of Oz tour". I got to talk to him and shake his hand, it was incredible. They stayed at the hotel for 2 days and I got invited backstage. I got to go into the room and there was Ozzy! Rudy sarzo and Randy! After small chit chat I told Randy I was a big fan and as a guitar player I asked ( he was practicing guitar when I walked in) can you show me how to play the solo on crazy train? He said "sure man sit down" and he proceeded to play and show me how the solo went! He was playing his Les Paul and after he showed me the solo in teaching terms he said "you try it" and he handed me his Les Paul! That is one of the most important and relished days of my life. God bless Randy Rhodes. A true gentleman and a incredible guitar player musician. Probably two weeks later I heard the news of his death. I still can't believe it.

Cool story and I believe it, but you left out some critical details! J/K I know how the average attention span goes, but I would love to hear more of the story... How much time did he take and how much did he "dumb down" the solo when he showed it? How well we're you able to play it back to him? I know his parents taught music, and he took lessons as a kid, so I can see him taking some time, but also I can't imagine him having the patience and time if you didn't already have intermediate to advanced playing ability... Let's hear the long version of the story!

My hero. He taught me triplets and why/where they fit in. I still have the original Diary of a Madman tab music book.

Holy shit! It's soo good to hear him talk. He's so humble! If I can play guitar half as good as him I'd be cocky and arrogant as fuck. Like seriously, 'please maintain distance when you are talking to me, I'm fucking good at guitar'. I guess that's why I'm the shitty player that I am lol..

His voice is gold 👌. I thought it would be a bit deeper but just by the way he talks you can tell he was humble and respected other guitarists as if they were all his best friend. RIP

Autopsy revealed that only the pilot had traces of cocaine in his blood. Randy only had nicotine - no big surprise since he was a chain smoker; Ozzy used to say he could win gold at the Lung Cancer Olympics.
