Nonsense, it's just that young aspiring artists today, for the time I've been alive (47 years now) focus on IMAGE and not on WRITING. Goofy, dorky guys of all varieties, with their thick glasses and receding hairlines, used to WRITE music. That's why certain classics are just so ultimately classic. It's because PEOPLE wrote music instead of IMAGES writing music. For my 47 years, you're not "allowed" to write music without a certain image and here in Canada those image requirements are violently enforced by the fucking police. If Bob Dylan were Canadian and born in my time he would work in a machine shop for a few years and commit suicide. If Elvis were born in Canada he would be the Prime Minister or commit suicide. If Kurt Cobain were Canadian he would be a police officer and then commit suicide. The legendary genius Mark Knopfler?! If he were born in my time in Canada the police would have tortured him and he would have killed himself after owning a car. That would have been his ENTIRE LIFE. He would have had a CAR.

Well, it's early morning in Durban South Africa, Saturday 28th December 2024. I'm drinking down this masterpiece, the very best of this Anniversary Gig, comfortably crammed into one glorious moment, which I could have wished would last much longer. But then, isn't that what every great moment deserves. Some of the very best in the biz, playing their hearts out in harmony, no ego, just homage to the master of sublime verse & everyone seamlessly delivering their very best to an audience drinking down every drop of nectar. My mind goes back to 1967, when I bought the Byrds album, Younger than Yesterday & My Back Pages, became another exotic bloom in my overflowing bouquet of Dylan masterpieces & here I sit, almost 60 years later, weeping with joy, listening to this celebration of joy in understanding that 'I was so much older than, I'm younger than that Now'. Why does wisdom come so late in life ? Because it takes so long to understand true wisdom. 😊😂❤🎉

WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN Crimson flames tied through my ears Rollin’ high and mighty traps Pounced with fire on flaming roads Using ideas as my maps “We’ll meet on edges, soon,” said I Proud ’neath heated brow Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth “Rip down all hate,” I screamed Lies that life is black and white Spoke from my skull. I dreamed Romantic facts of musketeers Foundationed deep, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now Girls’ faces formed the forward path From phony jealousy To memorizing politics Of ancient history Flung down by corpse evangelists Unthought of, though, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now A self-ordained professor’s tongue Too serious to fool Spouted out that liberty Is just equality in school “Equality,” I spoke the word As if a wedding vow Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now In a soldier’s stance, I aimed my hand At the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I’d become my enemy In the instant that I preach My pathway led by confusion boats Mutiny from stern to bow Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats Too noble to neglect Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect Good and bad, I define these terms Quite clear, no doubt, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I’m younger than that now.
